LISBON — The Columbiana County Retired Teachers Association met for their May meeting at the Lisbon United Methodist Church. Loretta Davidson welcomed those in attendance, led the pledge and offered the prayer.

Paula Patterson conducted the business meeting. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were approved. A legislative update was provided regarding teacher pensions and the loss of the cost of living allowance (COLA).

Guest speaker was Cathy Hester Seckman who spoke on “Ohio Day Trips.” She highlighted many excursions a person can take within our state. Her book entitled “Ohio Day Trips by Theme” is available at any bookstore or on Amazon.

Gene Krotky was the winner of the 50/50.

Donations were collected for the group’s philanthropic project. Pillows, light bulbs and assorted paper products were donated to the Christina House in Lisbon.

Regular meetings will resume at noon on the third Thursday in September. Any retired teacher who lives or taught in Columbiana County is eligible for membership.
