Sheriff’s Office — A woman on Union Street, Washingtonville reported at 10:46 p.m. Saturday that she was in the kitchen when the back door began to open and a man began to walk in. She slammed the door shut while pushing him out and locked the door. He stayed in his car, a black Toyota sedan, until 10 minutes prior to a deputy arriving. No forced entry was made. Upon arrival, the deputy checked the area but had no contact with anything or anyone. Sheriff’s Office — Dispatch received a call at 12:45 a.m. Friday from a resident in the village of Minerva regarding a large explosion they heard south of their residence on East Lincoln Way. The caller said Minerva Police advised the sound was likely from a fracking well pad in Columbiana County, however off of Major Road NE in Carroll County. A deputy checked the area without hearing any further explosions. Contact was made at the Norris Well Pad and the foreman advised they did not have or hear any explosions from their pad. Panek, 58, Atwater, was fined $750 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 85 days suspended and credit for one day served, leaving a balance of four days to serve in jail after a jury found him guilty this week of engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools.
