LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, cases against Julius J. Vajda, 58, Canfield, were bound over to the county grand jury for fourth-degree felony fleeing and eluding from a police officer and misdemeanors of operating a vehicle impaired first offense and OVI breath first offense. Vajda fled from police attempting a traffic stop in Lisbon on Oct. 25.
A preliminary/pretrial hearing was set Nov. 13 for Philip M. Kelly, 38, North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, charged with second-degree felony burglary and misdemeanors of obstructing official business and resisting arrest for allegedly breaking into a home on North Lincoln Avenue, Salem on Nov. 3, breaking the front door window, reaching inside to unlock the door and continuing through the entryway and kitchen. After being confronted by the homeowner, he fled southbound on North Lincoln Avenue and was seen by police walking on Superior Avenue. Officers attempted contact and told him to stop multiple times, but a small foot chase took place and then he was taken into custody.
A pretrial was set Nov. 13 for Shane Edward McCutcheon, 37, Pennsylvania Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly throwing an electric tool at a woman in an attempt to hit her. She ducked and the tool struck the wall, bounced back and struck her in the shoulder on Nov. 3 in East Liverpool.
A pretrial was set Nov. 17 for Cassandra P. Pagani, 39, East Fifth Street, Salem, charged with domestic violence for allegedly throwing a glass object at a man and causing a cut on his lip and a busted tooth during a domestic on Sept. 9 in Salem.
Zakhira D. Williams, 25, Main Street, Wellsville, was fined $400 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for disorderly conduct amended from assault and menacing amended from aggravated menacing. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. Williams was accused of threatening a woman with scissors and threw a drink on her during an argument inside King’s Carryout on Nov. 8, 2023.
A pretrial was set Nov. 6 for James Allen Smith, 53, Brunswick, charged with engaging in prostitution for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website of an adult woman trafficking a minor female and arranging for sexual activity with both females in exchange for $220, then driving to East Palestine for the meeting on Oct. 30.
Corey T. Yates, 33, Youngstown, was fined $750 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for two counts of possessing criminal tools, with one amended from engaging in prostitution. He was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and a 12-hour online prostitution prevention course. He responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranged for sexual activity with women in exchange for $140, then drove to Salem on Aug. 2 for the meeting with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.
Cheyenne Clark, 32, Youngstown, was fined $400 and given a suspended 180-day jail term for telecommunications harassment. She was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and to have no contact with the victim. She was accused of posting 20 pictures of another woman wearing only lingerie on her social media page and making a comment that if anyone knows her to tell the victim to quit sending her nudes, according to an affidavit.
Albert G. Mason, 71, Thomas Road, Lisbon, was fined $200 and given a suspended 30-day jail term for disorderly conduct amended from menacing. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service and to stay away from the victim. On Oct. 30 in Lisbon, he threatened to kill a woman.
Sarah B. Himes, 48, Summit Street, Salem, was fined $600 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served, for resisting arrest, obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. She was intoxicated and found in possession of two open bottles of vodka on Maple Street near Centennial Park on July 4 in Salem. Officers attempted to have her walk to a patrol car for a courtesy ride home, but she refused and argued, saying she was going to just walk home. When she was taken into custody, she began to resist and then slipped her handcuffs and had to be taken out of the car and handcuffed again, then refused to get back in the car and resisted to the point where officers had to physically place her into the patrol car.
A pretrial was set Feb. 2 for Christopher Ratcliffe, 41, Middle Beaver Road, Lisbon, charged with receiving stolen property and criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing on a Perry Township property on state Route 344 on Nov. 3, going through items thrown out and placed behind the garage and also being inside. After being taken into custody, his SpongeBob backpack was searched and a speaker reported stolen on Oct. 30 was located inside the backpack. He was fined $50 for a charge of pedestrian on roadway.
A pretrial was set Nov. 17 for Brenna J. Perkins, 31, Haiti Road, Salineville, charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. An affidavit said a patrol trooper responded to a vehicle occupied by two unconscious people in Salem Township who were allegedly impaired with illegal narcotics on Nov. 1. Perkins and a passenger were allegedly overdosing and given Narcan. The registered owner was contacted an said they did not have permission to use the vehicle. The defendant allegedly drove through a garage and hit other objects causing severe damage to the vehicle, making it inoperable. Perkins is also facing a pretrial on Feb. 2 for charges of obstructing official business, operating a vehicle impaired first offense, driving under suspension and reasonable control. The obstruction charge stems from Perkins allegedly giving police a different name and birthdate during an Aug. 7 investigation.
A pretrial was set Jan. 26 for Jena Kathlene Whittington, 32, 18th Street Heights, Wellsville, charged with possession of drug abuse instrument, obstructing official business and drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a loaded syringe and cut straw in her waist band and suspected narcotics inside her purse and a spoon with unknown residue on Aug. 20 in East Liverpool. The obstruction charge stems from Whittington allegedly hindering police regarding an abnormal bulge near her hip which was later found to be drug paraphernalia.
A pretrial was set Feb. 10 for Jason M. Miller, 35, South Johnson Road, Sebring, charged with OVI second offense, OVI refusal second offense and marked lanes.
A pretrial was set Feb. 10 for Ben Cronin, 46, Wood Street, Salineville, charged with driving under suspension.
A pretrial was set Feb. 3 for Rhonda Lynn Newlun, 39, state Route 170, East Liverpool, charged with speeding.
A pretrial was set Feb. 3 for Miles Lionel Reynolds, 37, Bank Street, East Liverpool, charged with driving under suspension.
David J. Nonamaker, 48, Yeager Drive, East Liverpool, was fined $1,375 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended ad credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, with $500 of the fine suspended, for OVI, no license and marked lanes. His driver’s license was suspended for one year and he was ordered to complete 40 hours community service.
Gwendolyn G. Glista, 62, Beechwood Road, Columbiana, was fined $1,175 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, with $500 of the fine suspended, for OVI and reasonable control. Another OVI charge was dismissed. Her driver’s license was suspended for two years and she was ordered to complete 50 hours community service.
Donald L. Snedeker Jr., 52, Commerce Street, Negley, was found not guilty of wrongful entrustment, with costs taxed to the state.
A driving under suspension charge against Christopher Joseph Rose, 30, Lang Street, East Liverpool, was dismissed.
Richard S. Beadnell, 61, Washington Street, Salineville, was fined $700 for prohibited operation on roadway and two counts of driving under suspension.
Donald David Muir II, 19, West Martin Street, East Palestine, was fined $150 for no proper lights and license requirement violation.
Virginia Mills, 58, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, was fined $100 for driving under suspension.
Robert A. DeSarro, 46, Chester Avenue, Wellsville, was fined $50 for failure to reinstate.
Danielle Rauch, 29, Hunters Camp Road, Lisbon, was fined $200 for driving under suspension. Her driver’s license was suspended for a year and she was ordered to complete 25 hours community service.
Brenden M. Myers, 21, Pancake Clarkson Road, Negley, was fined $75 for an equipment violation amended from reasonable control.
Grand Jury
LISBON — Two defendants accused of trafficking drugs were served Monday with secret indictments issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury.
Dimitri A. White, also known as Meech, 32, South Street, East Palestine, was charged with trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, with a specification for forfeiture of money from a drug case for allegedly selling marijuana in the vicinity of a school on Nov. 30, 2017, and possessing $250 and cocaine less than 5 grams on Feb. 1, 2017.
William G. Wildman, 51, East Fifth Street, Salem, was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs and aggravated possession of drugs, both second-degree felonies, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia for allegedly trafficking and possessing methamphetamine in an amount equal or greater than five times bulk but less than 50 times bulk and possessing drug parapheralia on July 4, 2024.
