Sheriff Reports
— A deputy responded at 5:36 p.m. Sunday to Laughlin Road, Wayne Township for an alarm drop and found all doors and windows of the residence secure.
— A medical was reported at 4:05 p.m. Sept. 18 in the area of state Route 164, Center Township, with a deputy providing medical aid until EMS arrived on the scene and took over. EMS advised the person needed Life Flight and the deputy led EMS to the landing zone where Life Flight landed and took the person to a hospital.
— An assault was reported at 3:45 a.m. Sept. 18 on West Street, Salineville. Deputies could not locate anyone at the residence and learned the victim was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital for treatment. Deputies arrived at the hospital and gathered information, with the investigation ongoing and an arrest made. Jonathan David Messenger, 31, West Street, Salineville, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, third-degree felony intimidation and misdemeanor aggravated menacing for allegedly hitting a woman in the back of the head with a metal baseball bat at least three times and in her hand when she raised it to protect herself on Sept. 18 in Salineville, then threatening to kill her if she called police and making jokes about killing her while transporting her to the hospital.
— A custody issue was reported at 3:44 p.m. Sept. 16 in the area of state Route 170, Unity Township. A deputy spoke with the person in question and her mother and advised them how to proceed.
— An animal-related issue was reported at 7:29 p.m. Sept. 15 in the area of Homeworth Road, Knox Township.
— A juvenile-related incident was reported at 5:34 p.m. Sept. 14 in the area of McGeehan Road, Wayne Township.
