Highway Patrol

-- Selena Rogers, 20, Seventh Avenue, East Liverpool, was cited with failure to wear a seat belt after she swerved to miss a deer while traveling eastbound on state Route 344 in Salem Township at 12:05 a.m. Jan. 24, going off the left side of the road and striking a tree. The driver was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center because she hit her head.

-- A hit-skip involving a red 2006 Ford Expedition occurred at 8:04 p.m. Jan. 29 when the vehicle was driven off the left side of state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township, striking a utility pole, and then was abandoned. Patrol was able to make contact with Sarah Crooms, who stated she had recently purchased the vehicle from the registered owner, Eric Smith, Laneve Lane, Wellsville. Crooms stated that the vehicle was stolen from 37165 Hazel Run Road, Salineville, when she left the keys inside and fell asleep. No stolen vehicle report was taken.
