LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a case against Samuel Lalley, 31, West Salem Street, Columbiana, was bound over to the county grand jury for third-degree felony tampering with evidence and fifth-degree felony obstructing official business for allegedly resetting his cell phone and not coming out of a room with the door shut when officers called out to him during the execution of a search warrant for electronic items Dec. 6 in Columbiana. He allegedly admitted the phone contained criminal files on it and that he threw it under his bed.

A preliminary hearing was set March 14 for Matthew Grant Bucek, 44, Pittsburgh, Pa., charged with fifth-degree felony improper handling of firearm in a motor vehicle and misdemeanors of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense, OVI breath first offense, engaging in prostitution, possessing criminal tools and open container.

Bucek was charged for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with females in exchange for $240, then driving to East Palestine on Feb. 18 for the meeting. When he arrived, he allegedly had in his possession his cell phone used to make the arrangements, an open bottle of whiskey and a handgun.

A preliminary hearing was set Feb. 26 for Justine Desarro, 33, Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, charged with fourth-degree felony burglary for allegedly climbing through a window into a residence where she wasn’t permitted on Feb. 19.

A pretrial was set May 9 for Brent Nelko, 55, Aliquippa, Pa., charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and arranging for sexual activity with a female in exchange for $80, then driving to East Palestine on Feb. 12 for the meeting, with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

A domestic violence charge was dismissed without prejudice against Ronald Johnson, 57, Park Avenue, East Palestine, due to the victim’s whereabouts being unknown. Johnson was accused of strangling a woman and threatening her on May 24, 2023 in Unity Township.

A pretrial was set May 13 for James Ramage, 39, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, charged with weapons while intoxicated, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense, turn signal violation and marked lanes for allegedly possessing a firearm in the center console next to him while impaired during a traffic stop on Feb. 18 in Perry Township.

Brandice Bettura, 49, Franklin Avenue, Salem, was fined $150 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 169 days suspended and credit for 11 days served, for domestic violence. Bettura was ordered to complete 40 hours community service and to stay away from the victim. Bettura caused physical harm to a man during an incident Feb. 9 in Salem.

A status hearing was set May 13 and a court trial was set May 22 for Whitney Cline, 25, Independence Square, Wellsville, charged with domestic violence for allegedly punching a man on Nov. 7 in Wellsville.

A pretrial was set March 7 for Jeremy Fristik, 36, Park Avenue, East Palestine, charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest for allegedly refusing to come out of a Salem residence and then fighting and struggling with officers taking him into custody for an active warrant on Feb. 19.

A pretrial was set Feb. 29 for Christopher Dorsey, 43, Erie Street, East Liverpool, charged with menacing for allegedly trying to hit another man with his vehicle while the man was walking in East Liverpool on Jan. 24.

A pretrial was set May 9 for Ashley Gordon, 34, Pickering Street, East Liverpool, charged with theft for allegedly stealing a gaming system console from a residence on Jan. 10 in Center Township.

Nicholas Weiler, 27, Cuyahoga Falls, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and ordered to pay $100 to the victim for theft. Weiler stole a cell phone from a man on April 6 in Lisbon. The jail term was ordered served at the same time as a current sentence he’s serving in prison.

Kharyzma Jerkayla Thompson, 22, Martins Ferry, was fined $400 and sentenced to seven days in jail, with credit for one day served, leaving six days still to serve, for resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia and two counts of obstructing official business. Thompson lied about her identity when asked by police on Oct. 28 during an incident in St. Clair Township. During a traffic stop on Sept. 7 in St. Clair Township, she possessed a glass crack pipe and threw it from the packaging and refused orders to place her hands behind her back.

Megan McElroy, 30, Maple Hill Road, Salineville, was fined $300 and sentenced to 60 days in jail, with credit for 13 day served, for obstructing official business, falsification and drug paraphernalia for giving a false name multiple times when police approached her vehicle in the Giant Eagle parking lot in St. Clair Township on Feb. 7 when she was found slumped over in the driver seat with a needle in her leg and white powder in her lap. She was taken to a hospital and a grey tube with with multiple baggies containing a substance were found in the vehicle. On Jan. 27 in East Liverpool, she gave a false name to police investigating a suspicious vehicle.

A pretrial was set April 16 for Shawn McKinnon, 27, Fisher Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with six counts of failure to pay city income tax for allegedly failing to pay city income tax in East Liverpool for tax years 2017 through 2022.

Megan Garrett, 34, Mayberry Lane, East Liverpool, was fined $100 for animals running at large for a loose dog on Feb. 12 in East Liverpool.

A charge of deposit litter was dismissed against Laurie Jones, 58. Hill Boulevard, East Liverpool, who was ordered to pay court costs. Jones had been accused of littering for having debris on the property line on Dec. 19 in East Liverpool.

Dylan Arias, 25, Dover, was fined $505 and sentenced to three days in jail, with credit for two days served, leaving one day to serve, for OVI, speeding and no license. His driver’s license was suspended for one year.

Sydney Huffnagel II, 30, Salineville Road, Mechanicstown, was fined $1,180 and sentenced to 180 days in a jail, with 170 days suspended, leaving 10 days to serve, for OVI, driving under suspension and plate light violation. His driver’s license was suspended for two years and he was ordered to complete 20 hours community service. A pretrial was set May 23 for additional charges of OVI second offense, OVI refusal with prior within 20 years, driving under suspension, reasonable control and seat belt violation.

Bruce Catterlin, 69, Girard, was fined $875 and sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended and credit for three days served in a driver intervention program, for OVI. His driver’s license was suspended for one year, with driving privileges granted. He was ordered to complete 20 hours community service.

A pretrial was set April 18 for Richard Randolph Jr., 39, Orchards Grove Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with OVI third offense, driving under suspension and reasonable control.

A trial remains set Feb. 26 for Tosca Kemp, 48, North Market Street, East Palestine, charged with OVI first offense, OVI breath first offense, improper/expired registration and reasonable control.

Richard Brown, 37, Midland, Pa., was fined $200 for expired registration and driving under suspension.

A pretrial was set April 18 for Jason Neville, 45, Louisville, charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set April 29 for Ronald L. Grey, 41, Lincoln Street, Calcutta, charge with parking prohibitions.

A pretrial was set May 16 for Steven Cunningham, 33, Erie Street, Columbiana, charged with driving under suspension.

A pretrial was set May 14 for William Long Jr., 19, Washington Street, Salem, charged with failure to stop after an accident and reasonable control.

A pretrial was set April 18 for Steven Lucas, 41, Hubbard, charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set April 25 for Spencer Murray, 20, Akron, charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set May 14 for Robert West, 59, Enon Valley, Pa., charged with speeding.

A pretrial was set April 25 for Jammie M. Dorsey, 42, state Route 164, Leetonia, charged with a stopped school bus violation.

A pretrial was set April 25 for Brandon Hopkins, 26, Rochester, Pa., charged with speeding.

Ronald Roepke, 33, Duck Creek Road, Salem, was fined $250 for driving under suspension and failure to control.

Sean Davis, 40, West Clark Street, East Palestine, was fined $130 for driving under suspension and expired plates.

Heath Ward, 51, Allen Road, Salem, was fined $100 for speeding.

Sidney Gurney, 23, North Pleasant Drive, East Palestine, was fined $100 for speeding and expired registration.

Matthew Provenzano, 43, Columbus, was fined $100 for littering from vehicle.

Joseph Brletich, 67, Wheathill Road, East Palestine, was fined $100 for speeding.

Brenten Lester, 28, St. Clairsville, was fined $150 for an equipment violation, amended from a stop sign violation.

William Weyand, 53, Laura Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $200 for driving under suspension and loud exhaust.

Benjamin Parsons, 47, Massillon, was fined $80 for driving under suspension and expired registration.

Gonzalo Tenecela, 49, Youngstown, was fined $75 for an equipment violation, amended from improper backing.
