-- Officers on routine patrol on Aug. 19 observed a female at 213 Ravine St., which they identified as Chelsea Madison, who has an outstanding warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. Officers made contact with Madison confirming the warrant and taking her into custody without incident. Madison was transported back to the police department to wait for a deputy's arrival.
-- Officers were dispatched to the area of St. George Street for a subject who was driving waving a gun out of the window on Aug. 20. The complainant advised that the subject was driving a dark colored Dodge Dart. Officers searched the area with negative contact.
-- Officers were dispatched to the area of Rite Aid store located on Walnut Street for subjects walking in the area checking car doors and looking inside the windows on Aug. 20. Officers found the subjects who matched the description walking on Ravine Street to which they admitted to being in the area of question but denied looking into car windows. Officers checked the subjects for warrants and released them once they came back clean.
-- Officers responded to a call on Walnut Street on Aug. 20 for a male acting erratic and trying to throw liquids onto passing cars. While checking the area this officer found a male subject in the parking lot of Tice's Service standing next to a truck officers suspected he was breaking into. A second officer observed the male drop a rock from his hand, reach inside the truck, grab a gallon of juice and take off running through the parking lot towards East Sixth. Officers used the taser, but failed to make good contact, but the male gave up after a brief struggle before being placed in handcuffs. The unidentified male subject was not cooperating with officer by refusing to give his name, date of birth or social security number. When officers got the male subject to station, he tried to head butt and kick officers. The male subject screamed and yelled at officers during the length of the arrest and booking process at times making multiple threats to kick officers in the face and even threatened to kill officers once he got released from jail. Officers tried numerous times to gather the male's personnel information. Once officers identified the 17-year-old, he was transported to hospital for treatment prior to being taken to Tobin Center until his court appearance. The juvenile was charged with aggravated menacing, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
-- While on routine patrol on Aug. 20, an officer at the intersection of Broadway and East Fifth observed a truck pass through the intersection of East Fifth and Walnut. The truck went up the hill, veered right and struck a parked car. The driver then backed up and continued up the hill. The driver was stopped on Pennsylvania Avenue and exited the vehicle. Officer noted an odor of alcohol coming from the driver. Officers performed a field sobriety test, then conducted a search of the vehicle where they found multiple open containers. The truck the male was driving was towed. The driver participated in a field sobriety test but refused a breath test. He was charged with OVI, driving without a license and failure to control.
-- Officers responded on Aug. 21 8:35 p.m. to 1541 Globe St. for a 10-year-old juvenile ran away. Upon arrival officers made contact with the mother who stated that her daughter would not come inside for the night and began riding her bicycle away and stated that she was going to ride to her father's house located on Avondale Street. When officers arrived, the juvenile was already back at home.
-- A male called to report that after he closed up a Gilkinsons Short Stop and was getting in his car, a small white pickup truck pulled in behind him and a man got out and pulled a hoodie over his face and began walking toward his vehicle. He stated he backed his car up and fled quickly and the truck did not follow him.
-- Officers responded on Aug. 21 to a report of a male stealing construction equipment on Elizabeth St. The subject had already left the scene by the time the officer arrived. During the officer's investigation he found a generator and a wheel barrel, with equipment in it, sitting behind the building. The wheel barrel had two saws, a leaf blower, extension cord and two cases with hand held power tools. After the officer made the discovery of the equipment, a second officer witnessed a pick-up truck leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
-- Officers responded on Aug. 21 to a females request that officers come to her Lincoln Avenue apartment for her son who had possibly taking an unknown substance. Fire and EMS responded and evaluated the male who was alert and oriented. He opted to refuse treatment and/or transport. A warrant was discovered through the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. The male was taken into custody without incident and released to the sheriff's office.
-- Dispatchers received a call from a resident at 525 Pailissey St. on Aug. 22 reporting that someone had been inside her house. The resident told an officer that she received a notification from her cameras that someone was out front of her house the night prior around 3:30 a.m. On the video it was observed to be a male in a black hoodie with the hood over his head. The resident also noted that when she arrived home, she observed that the camera was disconnected and someone was in her basement. The officer told the resident that the midnight shift would be advised to do extra checks of the area.
-- Officers were dispatched to the area of 431 Orchard Grove on Aug. 22 for a suspicious male. Officers spoke to a caller that stated a male walked by his home and began to call his sons' friends names using racial slurs. When the complainant stepped out of his home, the subject began to threaten him. The subject then stated that he does not care if he calls the cops because he is going to prison the next day. A description of the male was given to officers and the surrounding area was searched. Officers had negative contact with that subject.
-- An officer on routine patrol on Aug. 22 observed Amber Cox sitting on a set of steps on East 4th Street near College Street. The officer with prior knowledge knew that Cox had an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office. The status of the warrant was confirmed through dispatch and Cox was taken into custody without incident and transported back to our police department. The sheriff's office transported her to the county jail.
-- Officers responded to a call on St. Clair Avenue near Gilkinsons on Aug. 22 in reference to two females that appeared under the influence lying on the sidewalk. Officers arrived on scene making contact with the two female juveniles and observed numerous bottles of alcohol on the sidewalk. Officers observed both juveniles to have slurred speech, the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from their person and glassy red eyes. Both juveniles gave their home addresses and were transported back home in the care of a sober adult. Photographs were taken of the alcohol which were then destroyed. This incident will be forwarded to juvenile prosecutor for review.
