COLUMBIANA COUNTY MUNICIPAL
LISBON -- A March 15 preliminary hearing was set in county Municipal Court for Jordan L. Gainer, 32, Smithfield Street, East Liverpool, charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, as well as misdemeanor citations of permitting an operator to drive without a license, failure to display a valid sticker, failure to control, seat belt violation, two counts of reckless operation, two counts of improper passing, speeding, two counts of traffic control devices and a turn signal violation. On Oct. 17, Gainer allegedly fled from Wellsville police in a red Ford Escape, passing vehicles on a two-lane road, before continuing up on state Route 7, where the vehicle was found flipped on its roof and up against a telephone pole. Gainer reportedly was found lying on the sidewalk next to the vehicle.
Christopher E. Steele, 34, Grove Alley, East Liverpool, was bound over to the grand jury on charges of domestic violence and criminal damaging for allegedly slashing the tire of Emily Lawson's 2005 Dodge Van, kicking in her front door breaking a door jam, choking her, dragging her and punching her numerous times in the back of the head on Feb. 28.
Michael T. Boggs, 50, Newgarden Avenue, Salem, was bound over to the grand jury on a charge of illegal possession of chemicals, a third-degree felony, for allegedly having ingredients and several one-pot methamphetamine labs inside his home on Feb. 26.
A March 15 preliminary hearing was set for Jesse S. McVey, 20, Center Avenue, Lisbon, charged with domestic violence, a fifth-degree felony for allegedly dragging Angel Myers, his fiance, by the hair, hitting her in the face and slamming her off a table in the living room on Dec. 14.
Ryan W. Virden, 32, Wooddale Drive, Lisbon, was bound over to the grand jury on a charge of having weapons while under a disability for allegedly having a nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol in his bedrooms when the county drug task force searched his home in late February.
Joshua D. Vishak, 46, Y-Camp Road, Lisbon, was fined $1,295, credited with 22 days in jail, sentenced to eight additional days in jail and required 60 hours community service for criminal damaging, speeding and four counts of violating a temporary protection order. Vishak was ordered to have no further contact with Sunny Wright. An obstructing official business charge was dismissed.
Michael A. Stover, 20, Thomas Road, Lisbon, was fined $1,275, had his license suspended for a year, required to attend a three-day counseling program and ordered 40 hours community service for OVI first offense, speeding, open container, possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. An underage consumption citation was dismissed.
An April 20 pretrial was set for Andrew James Edward Birk, 24, Newgarden Avenue, Salem, charged with OVI first offense and left of center.
An April 19 pretrial was set for Jon David Hoyt, 28, East Main Street, New Waterford, charged with OVI first offense and speeding.
Alexander S. Reile, 54, East Grant Street, East Palestine, was fined $300, credited with four days in jail and sentenced to an additional 31 days in jail for falsification and obstructing official. Reile had blocked police and EMS from locating a woman, who they had been told had taken pills and was not acting right at the home. Reile refused to let anyone come into the home to check on her and claimed no one was overdosing. She was found in a shed and transported to the hospital.
A March 15 pretrial was set for Drake S. McAllister, 21, Knox School Road, Homeworth, charged with domestic violence for allegedly grabbing Roger Poling by his neck, choking him and threatening to kill him.
Mark Fraser Jr., 47, Alpha Street, East Liverpool, was credited with 13 days served, sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $500 for domestic violence for punching his son, Jesse S. McVey multiple times in the face on Nov. 15.
Cody A. Lawson, 24, Berlin Center, was credited with 10 days in jail and sentenced to an additional 50 days in jail for criminal damaging for forcing his way into the home of Sue Baddeley, East Sixth Street, Salem, on Nov. 18.
An April 8 pretrial was set for Jodi A. Johnson, 23, West Eighth Street, Salem, cited with theft and disorderly conduct for allegedly, along with a friend, Nicole L. Sayer, scanning food items, but not clothing items and then attempting to leave the Salem Walmart without paying for $166 in merchandise. Sayer, 23, East Sixth Street, Salem, was fined $600, credited with two days in jail and sentenced to an additional three days in jail theft and open container.
Timothy D. Martin, 47, Continental Drive, Salem, was fined $500, credited with a day in jail and sentenced to an additional four days in jail for theft for shoplifting $69 in merchandise from Walmart in Salem on Sunday.
Amanda B. Hines, 33, Bloomfield Road, East Liverpool, was fined $350 for marked lanes, drug abuse instrument and drug paraphernalia for a syringe and a glass pipe.
Logan L. Winters, 25, Somer Street, Leetonia, was credited with 19 days in jail, sentenced to an additional 41 days in jail and fined $250 for violating a protection order for calling Richard Smith's phone five times.
Cliff A. Lake, 38, New Garden Avenue, Salem, was fined $250 for driving under suspension and no license.
Sherez L. Hurford, 25, South Madison Avenue, Salem, was credited with three days in jail and fined $150 for drug paraphernalia for a glass pipe with residue in her bag on Feb. 15.
An April 26 pretrial was set for Rick Joseph Willis, 30, West Washington Street, Lisbon, cited with driving under FRA suspension and failure to control.
Lily A. Bonasso, 20, Pittsburgh, Pa., was fined $100 for speeding.
Tionne L. Johnson, 39, Lake Avenue, Salem, was fined $50 for disorderly conduct amended from theft for failing to scan $62 in merchandise at Walmart in Salem on Nov. 29.
An April 20 pretrial was set for Jesus C. Davis, 48, Southeast Boulevard, Salem, cited with a child restraint violation.
Andrew Scott Thomas, 37, Youngstown, was fined $150 for no license and speeding.
COLUMBIANA COUNTY COURT NEWS
LISBON - Kasey L. Helisek, 27, formerly of East Palestine, who was recently sentenced to 20 years to life after pleading guilty to rape and gross sexual imposition involving a young girl, was sentenced to an additional year in prison for probation violations last Thursday in Common Pleas Court. Helisek had violated his probation in two previous convictions of failure to notify the sheriff of his change of address as he was required to do as a registered sex offender. The additional year is to be served consecutively to the 20 years to life sentence.
Christopher L. Joy, 36, Danbury Avenue, Wellsville, stipulated to violating the terms of his community control and was sentenced to 360 days in jail with credit for 127 days previously served. Joy had been on community control after previously pleading guilty to complicity to illegal open dumping of solid wastes and complicity to illegal transportation or disposal of hazardous wastes. Joy had been involved in dumping barrels of waste in the area of Sprouse Road in Yellow Creek Township on July 5, 2017.
Connie Strader, 45, McCracken Road, Salem, was found eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs for having hydrocodone on March 12, 2019 and placed on a three-year treatment plan.
Kenneth Andrew Nez Sr., 34, Mantua, was sentenced to four years community control for two counts of non-support of dependents for failing to provide adequate support to two children between Feb. 1, 2014 and Jan. 5, 2020.

EAST LIVERPOOL -- In East Liverpool Municipal Court, Kenneth G. Grooms, of Dobson Road in Salineville, was set April 29 for a pretrial on a theft charge.
Santie A. Baumgarner, of Densmore Avenue, was sentenced to $200 plus costs on a driving on a suspension charge.
Mitzi S. Stoddard, of East 8th Street, was scheduled for a pretrial April 13 on charge of leaving the scene, failure to control., theft and criminal trespass.
Nickolas R. Garcia, of Bradshaw Avenue, was scheduled for a pretrial Wednesday on a charge of domestic violence.
Chad R. Anderson, of Spillway Road in Lisbon, was sentenced to a $180 fine plus costs on charges of possession of hashish, brake equipment, no seat belt and drug paraphernalia.
Henry L. Roach, of South Meadowbrook Circle, was set April 14 for a pretrial on an aggravated menacing charge.
