LISBON -- A Salem man accused of breaking into a Vine Avenue home to commit a burglary crime while the woman was at home is among 42 indictments issued by the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Grand Jury this week. The grand jury heard 45 cases, issuing 32 secret indictments, while they determined not to indict in three cases presented.

The following 15 indictments are open indictments:

Austin A. Angeli, 33, Jefferson Avenue, Salem, is charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of assault, aggravated menacing and unlawful restraint. On Sept. 28, Angeli allegedly restrained and caused physical harm to Candy Armstrong, while trespassing in a building where she was at in order to commit theft crimes.

Austin Nevill, 22, Beaver, Pa., is charged with two counts of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, both a fifth-degree felony; two misdemeanor counts of OVI, as well as one count each of falsification and obstruction of official business. On Nov. 3, Nevill allegedly had a loaded handgun in his vehicle, while he was driving under the influence of alcohol or a drug of abuse and then reportedly provided a false statement to authorities delaying their ability to complete their job.

Dustin Whaley, 25, West Chestnut Street, Lisbon, is charged with improperly handing firearms in and motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon, both fourth-degree felonies, as well as a misdemeanor charge of using weapons while intoxicated. Whaley allegedly had a loaded firearm concealed on him, while he was in a vehicle and under the influence of alcohol on Nov. 19.

David M. Scyoc II, 22, West Wilson Street, Salem, is charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly having a loaded firearm accessible in a vehicle he was driving or riding in on Nov. 13.

Jason B. Beckwith, 37, Center Street, Wellsville, is charged with harassment with a bodily substance, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor charges of menacing, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. On Dec. 27, Beckwith allegedly caused physical harm to Patrolman John Shaughnessy, causing the law enforcement officer to come into contact with a bodily fluid and obstructed his ability to do his job while interfering with his own arrest.

Homer C. Carnes Jr., 41, state Route 154, Lisbon, is charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, and obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony. On Dec. 6, Carnes is accused of failing to stop a vehicle for police, eluding them and delaying their ability to do their job.

Cody A. Lawson, 24, Youngstown, is charged with both grand theft of a motor vehicle and petty theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. On Dec. 17, he allegedly took a 2002 Honda four-door and an iPhone 7, both belonging to Dylan Mayfield.

Jessica Lynn Lasater, 33, Cunningham Road, Salem, is charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, for allegedly attempting to conceal evidence from authorities on Dec. 31.

Jordan Thurmond, 29, Elmside Street, Alliance, is charged with illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, a third-degree felony, and two counts of fifth-degree felony possession of drugs. On Oct. 15, Thurmond allegedly had both amphetamines and oxycodone, which were brought onto the grounds of a corrections facility while Thurmond worked at the facility.

Paul J. Kern Jr., 41, Wood Street, East Palestine, is charged with permitting drug abuse, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly allowing his property to be used for trafficking drugs on Dec. 24, 2020.

Lindzay J. Beaver, 39, Blakely Street, East Liverpool, is charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly harming Randi Leigh Vaughn on Jan. 10, when he has a prior conviction for domestic violence in October of 2019.

Jordan Michael Franklin, 25, Main Street, Wellsville, is charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly harming Heather Nichole Craft on Dec. 29, when he has a prior conviction for domestic violence in December of 2018.

Nicholas J. Conway, 40, New Middletown, is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly stealing a 2006 Chrysler belonging to Ronald P. Venezia on March 19.

Charles Louk, 46, Struthers, is charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor, for allegedly causing physical harm to Thomas Fitzgerald on Nov. 15.

Nicholas Martin, 30, state Route 46, New Waterford, is charged with assault and cruelty to companion animals, a first-degree misdemeanor. On Nov. 15, Martin allegedly assaulted Fitzgerald and needlessly beat or killed a companion animal.
