Columbiana County Common Pleas

LISBON — In county Common Pleas Court, a charge of rape and four counts of gross sexual imposition against Nelson H. Walter, 82, South Avenue, Salem, were dismissed. According to court documents, one evaluation found him incompetent to stand trial and a second evaluation could not be completed and the decision was made to dismiss without a civil commitment due to his hospitalization, advanced age and ill health. Walter had been accused of touching three children between the ages of 6 and 11 over a period beginning in 2003 and continuing through 2017. One of the charges was an unclassified felony, while the other four were third-degree felonies.

Dana L. McGilvary, 37, North Market Street, Lisbon, was placed on three years community control for receiving stolen property. McGilvary had a wide screen TV, women’s makeup, compact discs and an Xbox game controller belonging to Shania Voigt without her permission on May 18, 2019.

William Bernard Johnson Jr., 22, East Fifth Street, Salem, stipulated to violating the terms of his community control and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. His community control was dishonorably terminated for the prior theft conviction. On April 22, 2018, Johnson stole lottery tickets, lottery payouts and voided transactions valued at $1,295 at the Duke and Duchess on state Route 14, Columbiana.
