Columbiana County Sheriff

Kay McMillian of the county BDD reported at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday she saw a dead horse in a field on U.S. Route 30 west of Richey School Road. Deputies could see something in the field, but could not tell for sure what it was. The owner of the property, Dave Bernet, responded and checked the field with deputies. The object was found to be a partial round bail of hay, covered with white material, which was also partially covering limb debris in the field. There were no dead animals found.

Randy Hoppel, McCormick Run Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday he found an abandoned ATV on his property. It was hidden just over the hill in the field just out of sight of his home. The four-wheeler was a gray/blue Yamaha Timberwolf 4×4 with a red metal tool box on the front rack and miscellaneous tools inside.

Megan Morrow, Guy Road, Lisbon, reported at 7:57 p.m. Wednesday she went to Luke Trimnel’s house to pick up her child at the court-ordered time and he was not there. While she was waiting, she said she received a text message from Trimnel telling her she was not going to get her child back Wednesday night.

Samantha Shoemaker, Georgetown Road, Salem, reported at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday her mother was refusing to allow her to leave the residence. Deputies spoke to Stacy Mercer, who said she was concerned about her 22-year-old daughter’s well being after a breakup with a boyfriend.

Shannon Courtney, Geiselman Road, Minerva, reported at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday her ex-husband Randy Courtney came to her home to pick up their three children, but the 6-year-old was running a fever and wanted to stay home. Randy Courtney reportedly became upset and pushed his way into the garage. She ran in the house and locked the door. He then allegedly was honking his horn and refusing to leave the property. Shannon Courtney’s mother came and told him to leave before deputies arrived.

Bonita Gray, U.S. Route 30, East Rochester, reported Thursday her ex-boyfriend has been sending her harassing text messages, saying he wants them to get back together, with the last message indicating he was going to stop by. The deputy attempted to contact Steve Hein but was unsuccessful.

Joe Newlin, McKee Road,Wellsville, reported there was a suspicious vehicle in the area at 12:13 a.m. Thursday, but deputies found nothing out of the ordinary.

Harold Feezle, owner of the Rollerena Auto Sales, state Route 14, Unity Township, reported at 5:53 a.m. Friday catching Sam Masters and Hunter Joy on his property. They were taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing.

Carter Vandyke, state Route 45, Madison Township, reported Thursday receiving threatening calls from his brother and his brother’s girlfriend. He was advised to seek a protection order and come to the office to fill out a formal report.

Betty J. Asher, 39, Market Street, Salineville, was charged with disorderly conduct after she reportedly failed to comply with orders to remain calm and return to her vehicle during the bomb threat at a Southern Local Monday afternoon.

Heather Loyd, Brushville Road, East Palestine, reported at 10:59 a.m. Monday her daughter’s father has been texting and calling her since they split up more than 13 years ago. She has asked him numerous times not to contact her unless it is about their daughter. On Monday, he reportedly texted her about who was claiming their daughter on this year’s taxes and when she stated she was, he reportedly became upset and texted vulgar names. She wants no more contact with him.

Debra Leffell, 53, Hawkins Lane, Columbiana, and Jeremy Crihfield, 28, Continental Drive, Salem, reported at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday Crihfield was backing his mother’s car into a parking space at the end of the lot at the Pit Stop in Gavers when he struck the back rear corner of Leffell’s Jeep parked there. Crihfield said he has no license and no insurance.

Deputies checked on Jeff Kleinknecht, Salmar Drive, Salem, at 9:51 p.m. Monday after his girlfriend called concerned about him. Kleinknecht told deputies his girlfriend lives an hour away and gets worried if he does not respond to her phone messages. There were no indications anything was wrong with Kleinknecht.

Williams Athey, Front Street, Negley, reported at 11:34 p.m. Monday he heard a loud bang on his basement door and believed someone was trying to kick it in. Deputies spoke to other residents at the home, who said they did not hear anything and the door did not appear like anyone had tried to kick it in.

Dana from Geisler Realty reported at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday the resident at Briarwood Lane, Columbiana, Jeremy Higbee, was evicted. Geisler changed the locks and took possession of the property through a court order. However, someone entered the garage where all of Higbee’s property was stored when he left them in the home. All the property had been taken.

Ellen Whaley, Hillview Drive, Lisbon, reported at 8:25 p.m. Monday her son Walter Whaley was highly intoxicated and being verbally abusive. When deputies arrived he was highly agitated and bringing up things that happened in the past. He decided to go to the garage and calm down.

Etta Milly, Scott Drive, Alliance, reported at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday her 16-year-old granddaughter left the house and she is supposed to be on house arrest.

Sandy Reynolds, Desellem Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday Michael Oats was at her home and she wanted him to leave because he was bringing alcohol around her boys. He started arguing with her stating he could not leave until he had a ride at 6 p.m., but she told him to walk. He then reportedly pushed her into a kitchen counter and her teenage son came in and told him to leave. Reynolds did not want to pursue charges, she just didn’t want him around there anymore.

Randy Garretson, Applegate Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday his mother’s ex-boyfriend called and harassed him. Deputies spoke to Michael Oats, who claimed he did not call Garretson and does not even have his phone number.

Emily Scullion, North Market Street, Lisbon, reported at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday she was working at Consumers Bank in Hanoverton when a truck with a trailer struck her parked vehicle, damaging it. The driver, Lanon McKirahan, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, working for Enviro Core Co., had been taking core samples in the parking lot. He came in the bank and notified her of the accident.

KLG reported a combative patient at the Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park at 3:28 a.m. Saturday. When deputies arrived they found him to be totally unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital without incident.

Sandra Sellway, Votaw Drive, Lisbon, reported at 11:45 a.m. Monday she signed an agreement for Nick Ault, doing business as All-That-N-More, to do some bathroom and kitchen remodeling. The work was to be done the day after Thanksgiving and she had paid a $600 down payment. However, the work has never started and she has now contacted Ault to inform him she no longer wants him to do the work. He has not returned her deposit and she has filed a small claims action in Columbiana County Municipal Court.

Sue Reynolds, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 11:05 a.m. Monday her granddaughter, Melissa Anderson, took her vehicle after she told her she was not allowed. Deputies spoke to Anderson and warned her to return the vehicle or face unauthorized use of a vehicle charge.

A 13-year-old boy at a home on McKaig Road, Hanoverton, reported he was afraid his father was going to harm him at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The boy ran off after his father started yelling at him for getting up late and missing the school bus. Deputies took the boy home and spoke to the father, who said the boy got up late and then without permission went to the neighbors’ home and told them his father sent him there to get a ride to school. The neighbor took the boy back home and when the father found out what he had done, he began to yell at him, causing the child to run off through the woods. The boy changed his muddy clothes and the neighbor took him to school.

Venus Wittenauer, South Walnut Street, East Palestine, reported at 6:23 p.m. Sunday her father, Alfred Wittenauer, has been getting prescription pain pills from his girlfriend. The pills reportedly have not been prescribed to him and Wittenauer claims her sister, Valerie Rockenberger, is aware of it and has power of attorney, but does not want to do anything because she is concerned she will lose it. Wittenauer also believes the girlfriend is doing it to obtain money from her father. Deputies suggested she contact adult protective services. She also said she plans to call the drug task force about the pills.

Martin Merrick, Rochester Road, Kensington, reported at 12:59 p.m. Sunday neighbor children were shooting at an old half-burnt house. Deputies found no children shooting.

Duane McCauslin of the Frola Motel, state Route 45, Lisbon, requested someone be removed at 3:54 a.m. Sunday. Deputies contacted Scott Martin, Smithville, who said he gave Reva McCullough a ride to the motel, but she would not get out of the vehicle. After deputies were notified, she got out of the vehicle with her belongings, went into her room and Martin was able to leave.

Brandon Smith, state Route 154, Rogers, reported a suspicious vehicle at the Rogers Sale at 10:14 p.m. Saturday. Deputies checked the vehicle, but no one was around.

Deputies on patrol at 10:02 p.m. Saturday found a vehicle in the parking lot at Highlandtown Lake off Steubenville Pike and Osbourne Road in Washington Township. Charles H. Riffle Jr., 58, Center Street, Wellsville, was found to have marijuana and an open beer. He was cited with physical control.

An anonymous man reported a protection order violation at a home on state Route 154, Lisbon, at 5:14 p.m. Saturday. Deputies found Kevin Secka sitting on the couch when Michelle Secka answered the door. She has a protection order prohibiting Kevin Secka from being there. He claimed she had been texting him and she picked him up from the Save A Lot in Rogers before bringing him to the house. Kevin Secka was charged with violating the protection order.

George Maskaluk, state Route 39, Salineville, reported at 4:01 p.m. Saturday his temporary tag had either been lost or stolen from his vehicle. He had been to Kent State East Liverpool and Southern Local schools that day.

Don Sturms, Campbell Road, Hanoverton, reported at 2:27 p.m. Saturday someone damaged his well pit lid. The lid is about eight foot long and weighs about 200 pounds. Sturms did not see anything happen, but saw tire tracks in the snow.

Rodney Campbell, Union Avenue, Minerva, reported at 12:28 p.m. Saturday a Kia Soul was parked in a field. Deputies found the vehicle about 200 yards off the roadway. It had traveled through a wire fence and struck a wooden post. The driver’s side window was halfway down and the keys in the ignition in the on position, but the vehicle had run out of gas. Dispatchers contacted Sebring police. The owner of the vehicle, Susan Walton, also had her home broken into, which was discovered by Sebring police. The police requested deputies have the vehicle towed.

Joyce Patrone, North Front Street, Negley, reported at 12:10 p.m. Saturday her boyfriend, Ross Ferguson, refused to return her pet bird. Deputies explained it is a civil matter.

Herbert Roble, Metz Road, Columbiana, reported that Friday morning he found someone had broken into his 2003 and 1997 Honda Accords. Someone went through the glove boxes and center consoles, but nothing appeared to be missing. The vehicles had been unlocked.

Chuck Biery, Woodsend Drive, Salem, reported a suspicious vehicle at 10 p.m. Friday. Deputies found a vehicle backed into a yard, but no one was around.

Austin Needham, Spartan Road, Salineville, reported at 8:02 p.m. Friday someone parked their vehicle in his garage while he was not home and without permission. The vehicle was towed.

Ali Gatrell, Guy Road, Lisbon, reported at 4:25 p.m. Friday she recently broke up with her boyfriend, Seth Swanson, and he has been harassing her. While she was speaking with deputies, he called numerous times. Deputies spoke with him and told him to cease.

Dixie Apple, U.S. Route 62, Beloit, reported a domestic dispute at a home on Heritage Drive at 11:18 p.m. Saturday. Deputies spoke with Vickie Greenfield, who said there was nothing wrong, just her sons playing and yelling inside the house.

Lakieshia Richardson, an employee of Quik Mart and More, state Route 45, Lisbon, reported at 6 p.m. Jan. 17 David Faloba was trying to pay for his gas when the pump did not work. He came inside and the clerk turned on the pump for him, instructing him to come inside after he was done pumping. However, after Faloba pumped his gas he reportedly threw up his hands and got into his vehicle to leave. Richardson then went outside and stepped in front of the vehicle to get him to come inside and pay, which he did.

Jay Cochran, the Beaver Local bus supervisor, reported at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday there was something bloody, wrapped in clear plastic discarded next to the parking lot at the Beagle Club on Hammond School Road. Deputies found what appeared to be at least one deer carcass. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources wildlife officers were notified to investigate.

David Hostetter, state Route 170, East Palestine, reported at 2:04 p.m. Wednesday he was threatened over the phone by a man. Hostetter said he was recently struck by a vehicle while walking, and his attorney filed a lawsuit against the person. He said the person called him on Wednesday afternoon and told Hostetter he would die in a house fire.

Melissa Knight, Mattix Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:54 a.m. Wednesday her 16-year-old son did not want to go to school and has done this in the past. Deputies spoke to the boy, who said he was not in the mood to go and it turned out was also having problems with an ex-girlfriend. He agreed to go to school.

Brianna West, Miller Road, Lisbon, reported a domestic dispute at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday. She was reportedly talking on the telephone to a younger man and her boyfriend, James Nenichka, became jealous. There was some pushing and shoving, but no visible marks and West signed a refusal to prosecute. Nenichka reportedly had a warrant from New Castle, Pa., but they were not able to extradict.

George Cunningham, state Route 518, Lisbon, reported at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday his son, Caleb Cunningham, 23, was out of control and throwing things around the house. The son also reportedly commented about killing the neighbor and threatened his family. He was transported to the hospital.

Donna Campbell, Guy Road, Lisbon, reported at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday she heard a noise. There were no footprints in the snow out back.

Suspicious activity was reported at a Rose Drive apartment at 5:19 a.m. Saturday. The person was reportedly going around knocking on doors. After speaking with Linda Sanders,deputies learned the wind has been blowing her door around lately. Deputies found no footprints on the ground.

Robert Shirey, Y and O Road, East Liverpool, reported at 1:29 a.m. Saturday there were suspicious individuals in the area. Deputies found Joshua Gillimore and his brother walking on the road with bags of food in their hands. They told deputies they were kicked out of one of their girlfriend’s homes and were walking home.

Deputies assisted Columbiana police looking for a person who fled inside the city at 2:34 a.m. Sunday.

Mary Shroades, Dutchtown School Road, Rogers, reported at 2:22 a.m. Sunday her ex-boyfriend, Shawn Adams, has been harassing her ever since she broke up with him. She said he even has called her workplace and made a scene. Deputies were unable to reach him.

Jack Waggle, owner of the End Zone, Washingtonville, reported at 12:36 a.m. Sunday there was an assault at a bar in Salem. Jared Coil’s face was severely swollen and he said he was assaulted at a Salem bar where someone stole his coat with suboxin in it, his wallet and phone. He wanted to go home, but his family coaxed him into going to the hospital. Salem police went to the SRMC to talk to him and there he claimed he had been assaulted while in Washingtonville.

Michelle Jones, Grant Street, Lisbon, reported at 3:36 p.m. Tuesday she received a phone call from a man with a foreign accent claiming she had been approved for a government grant for $9,500, but asking her to send a $250 cashiers check to Florida to receive the money. When Jones started asking the man questions, he reportedly got upset, making threats to kick her rear and blow her up.

Amanda Jett, Canal Street, East Rochester, reported at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday she believes someone is stalking her. She called the gas company when she found her gas was not working and the service tech came out to look at the problem, informing her someone had shut off her gas.

Cindy Masters, Buck Road, Beloit, reported at 1:48 a.m. Tuesday her son had some friends over and she came out of the bedroom to find them drinking alcohol. She became angry and an argument erupted. Deputies talked to both Masters and her children until the situation calmed down and all the children went to bed.

Keith Ernst, Buck Road, Salem, reported at 12:49 p.m. Friday there was a suspicious white Chevy pickup in the area. Deputies found the pickup in his driveway with two men inside the cab. The truck belongs to ECO Property Management and the two men were identified as employees of the company. They were there to check and make certain everything was winterized properly on the property.

Drake Smith, U.S. 30, East Rochester, reported 12:38 p.m. Friday someone stole the tail gate from his vehicle. The truck was parked at his business on U.S. 30.

Tina Davis, Ellsworth Avenue, Minerva, reported at 10:25 a.m. Sunday someone used her Social Security number to file federal taxes in 2014 and she has been having her income tax held since that time. The IRS is reportedly investigating the matter.

Cathy Kellogg, Whinnery Road, Winona, reported at 2:02 p.m. Sunday she had been living with Candace Miller, who told her she needed to leave. Kellogg left, but still had some items at Miller’s house she wanted to retrieve. Deputies told her to contact the courts to make arrangements to obtain the rest of her belongings.

Elsie Cloud, Beech Street, Hanoverton, reported at 2:43 p.m. Sunday Ralph Altomare, who lives there, had put his hands around her throat and she struck him with a frying pan. Deputies did not see any visible marks on Cloud or Altomare, who had a slightly differing story, which also included him getting struck with a frying pan. Cloud was upset and angry, making comments about harming herself and Altomare, and making comments she was going to make up lies about the deputies. She was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital by ambulance for evaluation.

Courtney Barnhouse, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported at 10:17 a.m. Monday her ex-boyfriend, Mike Roberts, has been calling and harassing her. She also claimed in the past he threatened to beat her up. Deputies told her to not answer his calls or respond to the text messages. When deputies contacted Roberts, he claimed Barnhouse has been calling and harassing his family. Deputies warned him to cease all contact with her.

Lakieshia Richardson, Columbiana, reported at 11:34 a.m. Monday she dropped off her 15-month-old child to the father, Mike Spencer, on Friday and he took the child to the babysitter at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday when he had to go to work. She picked up the child at 11 p.m. Sunday and noticed the child had a black eye. When she asked about it, the father claimed nothing happened. The babysitter told her she did not notice the child had a black eye. It was possible it could have happened while her child was playing with other children the babysitter watches, but Richardson wanted a report on file.

Caitlynn Nagle, Hazelview Avenue, Alliance, reported at 8:36 a.m. Monday her children were at their father’s house on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township when she went to pick them up, but her mother-in-law would not let them leave with her. Deputies arrived and spoke to the children’s father, who said Nagle is moving to Cincinnati with the children and he just wanted to say goodbye to them. The children were given to their mother.

Nichalous Steele, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, reported at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday he stopped at the Glasgow Carryout, ran into the store for a sandwich and when he came back out, his white 2004 Ford F-150 was stolen. Deputies checked the area, but did not locate it. On Thursday evening deputies were notified of a vehicle sitting on the side of Hibbetts Mill Road. Steele’s pickup was found and was towed. The matter is under investigation.

Barbara Beverly, state Route 164, Lisbon, reported at 9:59 a.m. Friday that former employee, Shawn Bowser, took company gas cards and an extra set of keys upon quitting, Tuesday. Bowser was contacted by the responding deputy and he stated that he has been out of town at a new job and was going to return the items the same day.

Michael Coe, Taggart Drive, Wellsville, fled from Wellsville police during a traffic stop on Y&O Road 9:56 a.m. Saturday. He was finally found at his home. On arrival, Coe told officers that he was sorry for running from police but he was afraid of going to jail for driving without a valid license. He was taken into custody and his vehicle was towed.

Josh Pilla, Crestview Road, New Waterford, reported at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday there was an argument. Debra Pilla told deputies her son, Nicholas Martin, was drunk and she wanted him to leave. The son left before deputies arrived.

Brian George, Lynchburg Road, Kensington, reported at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday someone called and made threats. Deputies checked the area but did not find anyone.

Matthew Kent, Thomas Drive, Highlandtown, reported 6:07 p.m. Wednesday he was assaulted by his boyfriend Jonathon Pullie. Kent told deputies he and Pullie were arguing in Pullie’s vehicle about one of them wanting to do drugs before his drug test which was coming up within 30 days. Pullie became angry, took a swing at Kent and barely nipped his nose with the swing. Kent had no visible injuries and Pullie left before deputies arrived.

Robert Gauntt, Center Street, Lisbon, reported at 9:43 p.m. Friday he wanted a woman removed. As deputies arrived, Sarah Drye was pulling out. She said she was just bringing some of her belongings because she is moving in. Deputies spoke to Gauntt and Floyd Gilmore, both of whom said they do not want Drye there and that she had been knocking and kicking the door for about 20 minutes. Drye was taken into custody on a warrant.

Sara Ruble, Lakefront Drive, Beloit, reported at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday someone in a vehicle with a loud exhaust was shooting paintballs at her home. The vehicle was last seen headed toward Case Road. Deputies checked the area but did not find any suspicious vehicles.

Denise Jenkins, Short Road, Columbiana, reported a domestic situation at 8:58 a.m. Monday. Kim Jenkins told deputies Richard Manke slapped her into the bathroom and hit her with a belt. There were no visible marks. She refused to give a written statement and signed a refusal to prosecute.

Lori Boord, Stephen Drive, Minerva, reported at 10:42 a.m. Monday her ex-daughter-in-law, Felicia Boord, has been making harassing phone calls to her home, leaving several messages.

While on patrol, Deputy Richard Kimble saw an abandoned vehicle, a blue 2013 Ford Escape, on Carey Road just west of Price Road at 3:37 p.m. Monday. The vehicle had been ransacked and there were no keys. Deputies attempted to find a number for the registered owner, Daniel Almy, Glasgow Road, Lisbon, but could not find one. At 6:35 p.m. Salem police contacted deputies because the vehicle had been reported stolen from American Standard parking lot.

Lorna Murra of Hanoverton One Stop, state Route 9, Hanoverton, reported at 3:20 p.m. Monday someone stole the coin-operated air pump from the south side of the business.

Diane Possage, Rochester Road, Homeworth, reported at 3 p.m. Thursday she has been receiving unwanted phone calls from a number she does not recognize. She received nine calls from the number. Deputies suggested she contact her phone provider and have the number blocked.

A vehicle reportedly went into the ditch on 12th Street at Buck Road in Knox Township at 2:45 p.m. Friday. Larraine Jackson, Clark Avenue, Alliance, told deputies she hydroplaned.

Jim Crawford, Elwonger Road, East Palestine, reported at 4:47 p.m. Friday his wife came home to find the back door kicked in. A $300 older Acer laptop was taken.

Joseph Wright, Waterford Road, New Waterford, reported a custody issue at 6:11 p.m. Friday. Deputies attempted to contact his ex-wife, but were unsuccessful.

A Churchill Road, Lisbon, woman reported at 4:25 p.m. Saturday she has concerns about her grandson threatening her and possible activities going on at the neighboring house with which she shares a driveway.

Cherie Urbania, Kelly Park Road, Leetonia, reported at 9:12 p.m. Sunday she and her husband argued and he threw a coffee cup at the TV. He also damaged the refrigerator by throwing something. He came up from the basement with a crowbar and a chainsaw. She reportedly was able to get the crowbar away from him, but he threatened to cut her leg off if she did not get out of the way. Deputies spoke to Michael, who admitted damaging property, but denied making threats. The wife signed a refusal to prosecute.

Melissa Bess, Hammond School Road, Wellsville, reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday, that her 4-year-old child was in possession of her ex-husband’s mother’s partner’s, vapor stick. The child was putting the stick into one nostril, sealing the other with a finger and inhaling. Bess was upset and wanted a report on file.

Peggy Baddeley reported cows loose in the Dutchtown School yard, Rogers, at 12:22 p.m. Saturday. Police spoke with the owner of the cows, Patrick Palmer, who said he already had the cows back on his property. He also stated that while loose, his bull sustained a gunshot wound to the leg when his neighbor shot it. The neighbor said the bull has been loose in the past and has torn up his property numerous times. He did not want to shoot the bull, but meant to shoot toward it in hopes of scaring it away. Palmer stated that he believes people are cutting his fence so the cows can get away and he has found approximately 10 bullet casings on his property.

Deputies were called to 41063 state Route 558 at 1:23 p.m. Sunday for a report that woman there was acting paranoid and may have a substance abuse problem. The woman’s relatives wanted the woman to be taken by EMS to the emergency room and were concerned she would become combative if she found out they wanted her to get checked. Police and Columbiana EMS spoke with the woman and she answered all questions correctly and said she knew her family thinks she is not mentally stable. She agreed to go to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boardman with one of her male relatives for an exam.

A deputy was called to the area north of Lisbon at 6:21 p.m. Saturday for a report of a woman walking along the side of the road with a children’s stroller and occasionally jumping into traffic. The deputy found the woman in the McDonald’s parking lot and identified her as Michelle Jones and a man with her as Kenneth Ferolito. Jones and Ferolito told the deputy they were walking from a home on Grant Street to the Game Stop video store in Salem along with her two children and Jones said she was upset that as they were walking along state Route 45 vehicles were not moving out of their way. The deputy told them that as long as they had children with them they should not be walking along the side of the road at 6:30 p.m., and also should not be walking as far as Salem with children. Ferolito told the deputy he and Jones would take the children to McDonald’s and then go home.

A deputy was called to the Glasgow Carry-Out at 7:31 a.m. Sunday after Kevin Conley reported that after they closed the store the previous night around 10 p.m. employees found this morning that the door jamb was damaged and the locks had been tampered with. The deputy found the door was still secured but was damaged, and it appeared someone had attempted to cut away the jamb with a Sawzall or similar instrument. It did not appear that anyone had gained entry into the building however.

Gina Unger, Crestview Road, New Waterford, reported at 7:46 a.m. Thursday her 18-year-old daughter was home alone about 6 p.m. Wednesday when she noticed a white S-10 style pickup sitting at the end of the driveway. She stood in front of the picture window and the occupants saw her. They left driving toward state Route 7. The daughter called her grandfather, who lives nearby, and he stayed at the house while she went to run an errand. While he was there, the truck returned. Again when they saw him, the driver left going toward state Route 7.

Cindy Master, Buck Road, Alliance, reported at 5:40 a.m. Friday, sometime last night someone took the license plate off the rear of her vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the driveway.

Sharon Reed, East Palestine, reported a domestic dispute at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 31, but both Kirby and Doug Freed claimed there was not a domestic dispute. They claimed they went outside the house on Hadley Road and had a mild argument.

Charles Green, Knox School Road, Alliance, reported a domestic dispute at 7:27 p.m. Sunday. Charles Green and Andrew Conner both told deputies they argued over who should be cleaning the house, but there was no sign of violence and neither wished to file charges.

Russ Bowles, East Lincoln Way, Lisbon, reported at 8:41 p.m. Thursday they were inside Pondi’s eating and someone stole his work truck leased through Wolfpack Rentals LLC. Bowles and his co-workers tracked the truck by GPS to a field on Applegate Road. When they arrived, the truck was found in good condition, but several tools valued at between $800 and $1,000 and about 99 gallons of diesel fuel were missing.

Lt. Allan Young transported Michael Gibson from the County Jail to a child support hearing at Juvenile Court at 1:21 p.m. Monday. After the hearing the magistrate continued Gibson’s bond and set the next hearing for March. Gibson continually asked the magistrate questions until the magistrate told him the hearing was over. While out in the hall Gibson became somewhat disruptive, continuing to ask questions in a loud voice.

Jeff Avnet, New Middletown, reported at 1:18 p.m. Monday his Ford F-150 was damaged while parked at Envelope One on state Route 344 outside of Columbiana. Four people stopped in to apply for jobs that morning and one of them reported they saw a woman in a red Chevy Blazer strike the pickup with her vehicle. Deputies contacted Kendra Chestnut, who admitted she pulled into the lot, slid on the ice and struck a brown F-150. Both vehicles were damaged.

Sierra Thompson, Longs Crossing Road, Leetonia, reported at 7:39 a.m. Monday she was parked in the student parking lot of Crestview school when her Cobalt was struck by another vehicle driven by Madison Dallies of New Waterford. Both vehicles were damaged.

Victor Shreves, Clarkson Road, Rogers, reported at 2 p.m. Tuesday he received a check in the mail from StarCom Communications for $1,748, which he cashed at Wood Forest Bank at the Calcutta Walmart on Dec. 15. He was contacted by his bank on Tuesday and alerted the check was not any good.

Betty Moore, Dunn Road, East Liverpool, reported at 11:19 a.m. Wednesday she has been receiving letters from National Recovery Agency in Harrisburg, Pa., attempting to collect $1,026 for gas allegedly supplied to an address on Cove Road in Weirton, W.Va. Moore said she has never had an account in her name with Mountaineer Gas.

A Salineville area woman reported at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 1, a rape occurred on Dec. 21. The matter is under investigation.

Jillian Coppock, Gish Lane, Darlington, Pa., reported at 8:53 a.m. Dec. 6 her boyfriend, Dustin Brayshaw, assaulted her on Nov. 26 and again on Dec. 3. She had no visible marks and when asked why she waited to file the report said she only did so because her family members encouraged her to go.

Gary Shell, Rose Drive, Lisbon, reported at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday he heard someone open his front door. Deputies checked the area, but did not see anyone.

Stacey Woolf, Louisville, reported at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, while she was delivering papers she thought she may have seen a body on the side of the road on South Mahoning Avenue near Buck Road. The object was wrapped in red plastic and duct tape. Deputies quickly responded and found a Christmas tree, half wrapped on the side of the road with the stump and pine needles sticking out of the plastic wrap.

A smoke alarm summoned the Damascus Fire Department and deputies to a Woodsend Drive address in Butler Township at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday. The fire department assisted in locating the contact person for the residence and it was checked but no problem was found.

Kurt Jordan, Desellem Road, Lisbon, reported at 1:13 p.m. Monday he sold a car to someone named Jose on the internet for $800. Jose said he would send a check, which Jordan said he would accept, but he was going to wait for the check to clear before giving Jose the car. The check came, but it was for $5,800. Jordan believed it was a refund check from Wells Fargo from a home equity loan he had just paid off. He cashed it and spent it on Christmas presents for the family and then learned the check was actually from Jose and fraudulent.

Kristen Pierce, Bye Road, East Palestine, reported at 1:10 a.m. Monday her ex-husband, Dustin Pierce, was threatening to come over to her home. Deputies attempted to call him, but he hung up on them and ignored additional phone calls from the deputy. She told deputies she did not hear from him and he did not come over after they called him.

Nathan Brownfield, Bayard Road, Minerva, reported at 9:04 p.m. Saturday his neighbor, Mark Morgan, called him and threatened him. Deputies called Morgan, who sounded extremely intoxicated, and warned him not to call Brownfield again. James Dunlap, another neighbor, reported earlier in the day his girlfriend, Traney Thomas, had been outside and Morgan yelled some offensive words at her.

Michael Utt, Steubenville Pike, Hammondsville, reported at 4:07 p.m. Friday someone stole his deer camera and damaged his deer feeder.

A 15-year-old Lower Elkton Road, Leetonia, boy reported an incident at 12:02 a.m. Friday. Deputies spoke to Angela Butcher, who said she and her boyfriend, Bobby Cusic, had been arguing. Cusic then got into her Jeep and hit her with the vehicle as he left the driveway. Butcher did not want to pursue charges. She was checked by an ambulance.

A woman asked deputies to check on her boyfriend who was making suicidal threats at 3:17 a.m. Saturday. He was not at his home on state Route 45, Lisbon, but after some searching family and friends located him sleeping on a friend’s couch in Calcutta.

John Scarabino, Youngstown, reported at 11:28 a.m. Friday he had a vehicle towed from his home to an address on Longs Crossing Road in March. However, he just found out the vehicle did not make it there. Instead it had been dropped off at a Lodge Road address. After the vehicle being on the Lodge Road property for six months, the property’s owners were approached by a person who wanted to buy the vehicle for parts and they had sold the vehicle.

Sandy Reynolds, Desellem Road, Madison Township, called in regard to domestic dispute at 1:45 a.m. Friday. Reynolds left before the deputy arrived, and she could not be located.

Cheyenne Murray, Rose Drive Apartments, Lisbon, called about suspicious activity outside the apartment complex at 2:26 a.m. Friday, and a deputy arrived to find Gary Shell Jr. hiding in the bushes. Shell, who said he had gone outside to blow off some steam, was told to get back inside and stay there.

Cindy Masters, Buck Road, Beloit, reported her garage had been broken into Monday night, and stolen were several saws that had been left from when her father passed away.

A deputy was called to a home on Yeager Drive in Madison Township at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday after a woman reported her 8-year-old great-great-grandson was out of control. The deputy observed several chairs had been pushed over, a plastic plant pulled from its hanger and plastic bottles strewn about. Deputies have been called to the home before and have told the boy about the effect his actions were having on his great-great-grandmother. The boy said he wanted to return to Belmont Pines, where he lived for a week last year and made friends. The great-great-grandmother said he is seeing a counselor at the county mental health center and a caseworker from Children Services visits regularly. The deputy remained until the boy calmed down.

Meagan Morrow, Guy Road, Lisbon, called Wednesday in regard to a custody matter. The deputy advised her this was a civil matter since it involved a shared-parenting agreement, but he went to the home of the child’s father on Carmel Achor Road, Rogers, but no one answered the door.

Breion Price, Washington Street, Washingtonville, reported Wednesday he has been receiving letters purportedly from the U.S. Department of Justice and Ohio Attorney General, telling Price he was the victim of identity fraud and had also failed to file his taxes in 2012.

A burglar alarm went off at the home of Brian Holmes, Woodsdale Road, Salem, at 12:55 p.m. Thursday. The home appeared to have been broken into, and Becky Holmes arrived and reportedly several items had been stolen.

Dan McCowin, Carbon Hill Road, East Palestine, reported Thursday someone has been throwing bags of human feces in his lawn. McCowin moved there eight months ago and found a bag of feces with a note for the former occupant, calling him a “piece of ….” but the practice has continued. Whoever is doing this apparently believes the former owner still lives there.
