Salineville Police Reports

Police were called around 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10 to a West Main Street residence where an elderly woman said she is constantly receiving unwanted calls from people out-of-state wanting money. An officer advised her to have caller ID installed on her phone and to avoid those certain calls.

Police were called around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 to a West Main Street residence where a woman said she felt her daughter may be in some danger from the daughter’s friend due to statements the daughter made to another police department about a criminal incident involving the friend. Upon further investigation, officers determined the daughter had nothing to fear.

Police took a report at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 from a resident who said he was being harassed by an ex-girlfriend now residing in Pennsylvania. Officers advised him to block her calls and avoid contact with her.

An ambulance was requested by police around 10 p.m. Dec. 12 to a woman on West Main Street for an unknown medical problem. The woman was taken by EMS to Salem Regional Medical Center.

While on patrol at 5:23 p.m. Sunday, police pulled over Gerald Johnson on East Main Street near Commerce Street for a brake light violation. Johnson was founded to be suspended by reason of failure to reinstate, and was cited for the brake light and driving under suspension.

Police were called at 6 p.m. Thursday to the BK Beverage on Main Street to apprehend a subject with a warrant. Officers took Jordan Dowling of Hammondsville into custody based on a warrant from Hancock County in West Virginia. Dowling was taken to the Columbiana County Jail and awaits extradition.

Salineville Police Reports

Police were called around 9 p.m. Saturday to a Lincoln Street home regarding a domestic dispute between James Lykens and step-daughter Cierra Whaley. Both Lykens and Whaley were separated upon officers’ arrival, with the argument about child custody. Both parties were advised to keep each others’ distance and go back to their respective homes. About half an hour later, officers saw Whaley in a vehicle as the passenger, with Dana Inherst driving near Maple Hill Road and conducted a traffic stop after having prior knowledge that neither had a valid driver’s license. Inherst was cited for driving under suspension, while Whaley was cited for wrongful entrustment, and both were taken back to their trailer.

Minutes later, police were called back to the Lincoln Street home following a report of a female resident wanting to harm herself. She was taken by Tri-County Ambulance to a local hospital.

Salineville Police Reports

Police were called around 4 p.m. Monday to state Route 164 following an accident in which Adam Sevek pulled his vehicle into a driveway after hitting a deer. Sevek said a deer jumped the guard rail and hit his vehicle before running back into the woods. Little damage was observed on the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.

Police were called at 6:19 p.m. Monday at the area of Church Street and East Main Street regarding a civil custody issue. Officers learned that Samantha Crawford was not willing to let the children go to their grandparents, who have legal custody of the children. Eventually Crawford placed coats on the children and allowed them to leave with the legal guardians.
