Darrin W. James, 48, Cleveland Street, Salem, was sentenced in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to a year in prison on charges of forgery, falsification, offense involving a certificate of title to a motor vehicle, motor vehicle title offense and two counts of tampering with records. He pleaded guilty in October.
According to court records he forged the signature of John J. Christopher sometime in January or February of 2012 so he could fraudulently obtain a duplicate certificate of title for a 1999 Ford truck on Feb. 6, 2012. Additionally, he falsified the odometer mileage on the vehicle’s title. He also reportedly purchased a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix from Jeffrey Bartholomew, which he sold to Judy Wilson without transferring the vehicle to his own name, instead filing a fraudulent title transfer with the title department transferring the vehicle between a Gerald Scavnicky and Wilson.
Vanessa L. Morrison, 34, Louise Street, East Liverpool, was found in violation of her probation on a burglary charge from Nov. 5, 2009. The offense was for trespassing into a home on Fairview Street, East Liverpool, which was occupied by the resident Troy Hauenstein and Gregory Golding at the time. Her four-year probation was dishonorably terminated.
Andrew W. Foster, 22, West Main Street, Salineville, stipulated to violating the terms of his probation for previous convictions of breaking and entering and possessing criminal tools. He has now been sentenced to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correctional Center in Wintersville and ordered to continue his probation. Foster was one of a group of people who broke into the IGA supermarket in Salineville on June 3, 2012, stealing items like pipes and wiring.
