LISBON — Columbiana County property owners are reminded the deadline for paying their second-half real estate tax bills falls on Oct. 2, which is next Friday. County Treasurer Bryan Blakeman talked about the deadline during the county commissioners meeting Wednesday, saying he did a quick check in the morning and learned there have been more than 1,000 online payments so far using the new online payment system. Commissioners award first phase of Dresden Avenue manhole project

LISBON — Columbiana County commissioners on Wednesday awarded the Dresden Avenue manhole rehabilitation and replacement Phase 1 project to the lone bidder, Advanced Rehabilitation Technology. County Sanitary Engineer Bert Dawson recommended the awarding of the contract to the company headquartered in Bryan, Ohio for $408,525. Chief Deputy Sanitary Engineer Troy Graft said the project will begin within a month. Wellsville schools eye partnership with BWD to solve communications issue

WELLSVILLE — Kyle Exline, superintendent of the Wellsville Village School District, addressed the Buckeye Water District (BWD) trustees during their Sept. 17 meeting to request a potential partnership with the BWD. Exline told the board that the district’s radio communication system for the buses is struggling to cover when they go outside of the district, so Transportation Director Melissa Antonio obtained a grant to update the system and place a repeater at Daw Elementary School. Wellsville school officials discuss state report card

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville Local School District Superintendent Kyle Exline and Allison Scott, director of curriculum, updated board members on the state report card and said they have a strategic development plan in place to address the scores. Exline said the update was to provide board members of the scope as to where the district is at and what was accomplished.
