Wellsville school board votes against non-renewal of teacher’s contract

WELLSVILLE — During a special meeting of the Wellsville Board of Education Monday morning, board members voted against the non-renewal of fourth-grade teacher Mitchell McDowell’s contract, meaning his contract will be renewed and he will continue to teach at Daw Elementary. Columbiana County Probate Court Judge Thomas Baronzzi requested the resignations of Chairman Joe Lawhorn and Vice Chairman Crystal Siembida Boggs and both complied, with Lawhorn scribbling out “I resign” on a piece of paper Thursday and Siembida Boggs submitting a letter Friday morning. Wellsville council votes to rebid lease for Wellsville Reservoir

WELLSVILLE — Village council this week voted unanimously to rebid the lease on the Wellsville Reservoir after receiving one bid that came in substantially lower than the amount for which it was leased last year. The bid received was $2,490 for a 12-month lease for surface use only of the reservoir. Council decided to reject the bid due to the getting $8,000 for a 12-month lease last year.
