LISBON — A new visiting judge has been assigned to oversee the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Columbiana County, the sheriff and one deputy over a fatal crash in 2023 involving the pursuit of a driver in a stolen vehicle which hit another vehicle. East Liverpool receives $75,000 grant for brine making machine

EAST LIVERPOOL — The street department has received funds for a brine making machine. Service/Safety Director Bill Jones told council members during their June 1 meeting that the street department received a $75,000 grant for a brine making machine and applicator which can help reduce salt use next winter and make it easier to plow the roads by reducing the ability of ice and snow to attach to the pavement. Salem woman charged with child sex crimes found competent

LISBON — A Salem woman charged with rape and multiple other sex-related acts involving two children over multiple years was declared competent to stand trial. Jan. M. McHenry, 40, North Ellsworth Avenue, will now face a jury trial at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 and a final status hearing at 9 a.m. Nov. 23 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court before Judge Megan Bickerton. Bickerton recently found McHenry competent based on an evaluation by the Forensic Psychiatric Center of Northeast Ohio which she ordered in April.
