WELLSVILLE - The Buckeye Water District (BWD) Board of Trustees will seek bids bids for the Beaver Creek State Park Campground Waterline Extension Project.
Al DeAngelis, district manager, said the project should be going out to bid within the next two weeks.
Troy Graft, chief deputy engineer, Columbiana County Water and Sewer District, spoke to the board regarding the waterline project for Elkton and concerns the BWD has with it such as the size of the service lines and the half-inch difference in the line size between what is there and what the BWD uses. Graft said he believes modifications can be made for the line size difference.
He noted that someone, although he does not know who, reported that the water line on the utility ridge is only rated at 152 PSI, and that was reported erroneously that it is 350PSI.
Board President David Dawson said the BWD is a water supplier, and these people need the water.
Board members voted to have the board's attorney put together a document transferring the water line from the county to the BWD so they can supply water to those residents.
The last concern Graft addressed is the emergency isolation and response times and concerns that they would not be able to respond in a timely manner. Graft told them they have lines in the area that run to the prison, and they would have to go there physically if there were issues.
DeAngelis said Arcadis has completed their survey for lead lines, the HIbbits Mill Waterline project has been started, the waterline project on state Route 45 will be completed this week and construction will begin on Hibbits Mills Road.
DeAngelis also said that the BWD installed the two remaining VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) for the high service pumps at the water plant, and the Distribution Crew fixed two leaks and two service line repairs and installed three hydrants.
DeAngelis said the BWD is putting together an invoice to send to the contractor who bored into a waterline leaving multiple townships without water for approximately 48 hours.
Minutes from the Sept. 17 regular meeting and Oct. 5 special meeting, the treasurer's report, operation report and district's manager report were approved as presented.
The Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees meets the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall, 1200 Main St. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 19.
