LISBON -- A blood drive is being planned at the Beaver Local School District.

Student Council representatives Addie Green, McKenzie Ash, and Mason Boggs shared the plans with the Board of Education earlier this month.

The drive is scheduled for Nov. 5 in partnership with the American Red Cross.

According to information available online, requirements for the drive are that an individual must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent); must be in good health and weighing at least 110 pounds.

Appointments can be scheduled via the American Red Cross.

Photo ID is required at the time of donation.

Student Council members also shared their plans for a fall food drive and said they would like to see new microwaves in the cafeteria and the possibility of a winter sports pep assembly.

Also during the meeting the district gave their appreciation to Southfield Energy for the generous donation that paid off the remaining Camp Fitch balance, resulting in zero out-of-pocket costs for families.

Elementary School students attended the annual field trip from Oct. 12 through Oct. 14.

Elementary School Principal Brianne Hall also told the board that following a successful Kindergarten Glow Literacy Night, the elementary school is planning a Christmas holiday-themed Literacy Night for Nov. 23.

She also shared that the elementary PTO will treat all K-12 staff to a beverage from Mama's Morning Brew on campus as a show of staff appreciation on Oct. 27.

It was also shared during the meeting that attendance at the Oct. 1 parent teacher conferences was higher this year thanks to a flexible schedule on Waiver Day that allowed teachers to meet with working families throughout the day and evening.

The district also extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Robin Pusateri, a longtime educator who recently passed away.

The district expressed gratitude for her many years of dedicated service to Beaver Local students.

The board then approved:

The Class of 2027 overnight field trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains National Park May 14-27.

The Class of 2027 field trip to the Gateway Clipper, Station Square, Pa., May 19.

The eighth grade field trip to Washington DC May 19-21.
