ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP - The St. Clair Township trustees will be applying for a radio grant on behalf of the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire department last week provided the trustees with the paperwork they need to file for a communications grant for new MARCS radios. If the grant is awarded, the new radios will improve communications between all forces and will have no cost to the township. The grant application is written for the maximum allowed of $50,000 and would cover the cost of eight new MARCS radios for the department.
In other business, the trustees approved a Cooperative Purchasing membership.
They also tabled an evacuation on a township right away for review and modification if needed. Assistant Columbiana County Prosecutor Bret Hartup explained that the resolution is a revision and follows state statute and can be revised to meet the township's needs. After hearing that, the trustees opted to review it and see if any modifications would be needed.
Additionally, trustees approved payment for purchase orders totaling $149,203.8, blanket certificates totaling $1,500 and bills totaling $238,078.75 were approved for payments.
The St. Clair Travel and Tourism Bureau will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in the community room at the government building.
Township offices will be closed Oct. 12 due to the government holiday.
The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees meets every other Monday at 4 p.m. at the St. Clair Township Government Building. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 5.
