New Cumberland Riverfest set for this weekend in downtown

NEW CUMBERLAND - The city of New Cumberland will hold its annual Riverfest Saturday and Sunday along River Avenue in downtown New Cumberland.
On Saturday, early birds can enjoy coffee at Prestinn's Coffee Pop Up from 8 a.m. until noon in the Davis Brothers parking lot while runners begin lining up at the gazebo for the Riverfest 5K that starts at 9 a.m. This will be followed by Yoga at the Magic Tree Community Garden at 10:30 a.m. (call 330-383-2144 to reserve a spot).
The Oak Glen band will perform the national anthem at 11 a.m. at the overlook on River Avenue with the flag presentation by Boy Scout Troop #38 and opening remarks by Mayor Will White.
This year's festival features more than 50 vendors with a variety of merchandise and food. R and R Farms will again have pumpkins, mums and other produce for sale. A car show from noon to 3 p.m. along South Chester Street will include special guest The Bee from Transformers. Don't forget to browse the local art work displayed in the former city building across from the pavilion.
Children can enjoy bounce houses at the end of River Avenue while those strolling along the river can listen to the music of Andrew Bissey (noon to 1:30 p.m.), guitarist Bill Crawford (2 to 3:30 p.m.), Led Foot Lover (4 to 5:30 p.m.), and the Wells Brothers (4:45 to 8:15 p.m.).
Fireworks will follow the final musical group.
Sunday's events include a community church service at 11 a.m. followed by the Little Miss New Cumberland Pageant from 1 to 2 p.m. and guitarist Scott Douglas from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
