LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP -- Trustees approved and signed the annual forestry mutual aid agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
Trustees Tuesday approved the Cooperative Agreement for Wildland Fire Suppression Within the Report Payment Areas agreement with the ODNR's Division of Forestry. The agreement is for Liverpool Township Volunteer Fire Department and other fire departments in the area to respond to and provide mutual aid for wildfires in their jurisdiction and provide a firefighter to function as a liaison between the department and the Division of Forestry.
Fire Chief Jacob Russell told the trustees that despite summer being a rainy season, the year overall has been a wet one. But fall is approaching and the wood will start drying out, so he wants all residents to mindful with fires.
New numbers were ordered for the fire department's trucks. Engine number 24 will be renumbered as Tanker 22 and Engine 23 will be renumbered as Tanker 21; the chief's truck will be renumbered as C22 and Dixonville's pick-up truck will be renumbered as Squad 23.
He also noted the fire levy signs which were printed by Campbell Signs are ready.
Road Department Supervisor Chris Bosworth provided quotes for the cutting edges for the department's trucks/plow. The trustees approved the purchase of eight cutting blades at a cost of $1,860 which allows a new blade and a spare for each of the departments four trucks.
Bosworth also provided costs for fuel transfer tanks for the mower, but due to a need to watch finances for now, the purchase of the fuel transfer tank was tabled, with the trustees planning to revisit the issue later since the mowing season is about over.
Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati reminded department heads and the trustees since the tax funds are slow coming in this year, the township needs to watch spending right now.
The resignation of Theresa Stockdale from the Liverpool Township Zoning Commission effective Aug. 21 was accepted and approved. Trustee Dennis Giambroni said that Stockdale has been in the position for some time, and he appreciated her work.
Resolutions to supplement appropriations for the General Fund in the amount of $100 for the Other Expense line item and to supplement appropriations for the Road and Bridge Fund in the amount of $35,000 for the Chip and Sell line item were approved.
Trustee Mike Bahen said the Dixonville Fire Station has two trucks down and Ford Motor Garage put a meter on them and found the one truck needed two sensors which would cost $1,184.37. He noted that he thinks it is worth getting the repair done so the truck can be sold since it is not being used. The trustees approved getting one of the two trucks running now and fixing the other one at a later date.
Bills totaling $155,517.11 were approved for payment, and the minutes from the Aug. 18 meeting were approved as presented.
The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration building, 2485 Boring Lane, East Liverpool. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 15.
