Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Middleton Township

LISBON -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a crash which left a Wellsville man dead in Middleton Township Monday.

According to a press release, OSHP Post 15 in Lisbon is investigating a one-vehicle motorcycle crash which occurred on state Route 7 near mile post 19 at approximately 9:02 p.m. Monday. David Bell, 35, Wellsville, was traveling southbound on a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle which traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned back onto the roadway.

According to the release, Bell was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

OSHP was assisted at the scene by the Negley Fire and EMS departments and the Columbiana County Coroner's Office.

"The Ohio State Highway Patrol wishes to remind motorcyclists the importance of being properly licensed, wearing a helmet and proper safety gear, and utilizing safe riding habits every time they operate a motorcycle," the release states.
