ELCSD celebrates career technical staff members for 5-star report card

EAST LIVERPOOL --East Liverpool City Schools is celebrating an outstanding achievement in career-technical education after the East Liverpool City Career Technical Planning District (CTPD) earned an Overall 5-Star Award on Ohio's 2025 Career Technical Planning District Report Card, the highest overall rating awarded by the State of Ohio.

The recognition reflects the collective work of East Liverpool's Career and Technical Education instructors, staff, administrators, students and community partners to provide high-quality programs that prepare students for success in college, careers and the workforce.

"This five-star recognition is a tremendous accomplishment for East Liverpool City Schools and, most importantly, for the instructors and students who make our Career Tech programs so successful," said Superintendent Jonathan Ludwig. "Our instructors bring industry knowledge, high expectations and a genuine commitment to students into their classrooms and labs every day. They are preparing our students not simply to graduate, but to leave East Liverpool with the skills, credentials and experiences they need to build successful futures."

Ohio's Career Technical Planning District Report Card provides communities with information about the performance of their career-technical education programs. The report card evaluates areas including Achievement, Career and Post-Secondary Readiness, Graduation and Post-Program Outcomes.

The measures look beyond traditional classroom performance to examine whether students are developing technical skills, earning industry-recognized credentials, participating in meaningful career-readiness experiences, graduating successfully and continuing into employment, apprenticeships, military service or post-secondary education.

An Overall 5-Star rating signifies that a Career Technical Planning District significantly exceeds state standards, making the designation an important indicator of the strength and effectiveness of East Liverpool's career-technical programming.

East Liverpool High School offers students the unique advantage of accessing a broad range of Career and Technical Education opportunities while remaining on the high school campus and participating fully in the traditional high school experience.

Programs and career pathways available to East Liverpool students include Engineering, Automotive Technology, Building Construction, Criminal Justice/Public Safety Services, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Education, Entrepreneurship/Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, Graphic Design, Multimedia Arts, Job Training, Landscaping and Horticulture and Patient Care credential opportunities.

Through these programs, students have opportunities to develop technical and employability skills, work with industry-standard equipment, earn credentials and gain experiences that connect classroom learning directly to careers and post-secondary opportunities.

"This award belongs to our Career Tech instructors," Ludwig added. "The five stars on this banner represent countless hours of instruction, mentoring and hands-on learning. They represent instructors helping students master a skill, earn a credential, complete a project, discover a career path and recognize what they are capable of accomplishing. We could not be prouder of them."

The district also recognizes the important role played by local businesses, organizations, higher-education institutions and industry partners that provide expertise, work-based learning opportunities and connections between East Liverpool's classrooms and the regional workforce.
