EAST LIVERPOOL -- Students at East Liverpool Junior-Senior High School joined students across the country and around the world Wednesday morning in observance of See You at the Pole, an annual student-led day of prayer held on the fourth Wednesday in September.
The local gathering was led by student leaders from the East Liverpool Junior-Senior High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), including Jessie Grace Muldoon, Taylor Loedding, Hunter Estell, Braden Schwerha, Drekeim Abercrombie, Alana Cornell and Mark Douglas.
Pastor Mike DiRenzo of Everyday Church served as the keynote speaker, sharing a message with students and community members gathered for the morning event.
Students met at the school flagpole before the start of the school day, joining together in voluntary prayer for their friends, families, teachers, school, community, and nation.
See You at the Pole began in 1990 as a grassroots movement when a small group of students gathered to pray at their school. Since then, the event has grown into an international observance involving students on school campuses around the world.
A defining feature of See You at the Pole is that the event is student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led. The annual gathering provides participating students an opportunity to exercise leadership while voluntarily coming together around their shared faith.
East Liverpool City Schools recognizes the importance of providing an environment where students can exercise their rights, develop leadership skills, and respectfully participate in voluntary student-led activities.
The district appreciates the families, community members, faith leaders, and community partners who support our students and the many opportunities available for them to become engaged leaders within their school and community.
