EAST LIVERPOOL -- The East Liverpool Board of Education approved several personal matters including resignations, hirings and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the school resource officers (SRO) during the first board meeting of the 2026-2027 school year, which coincided with the first day of school.
The MOU is with the East Liverpool Police Department whose officers serve as SROs.
Board members approved and accepted the resignation of Anthony Cusick, ninth grade assistant football coach. Cusick was then approved for the ninth grade football coach position.
The board also approved multiple classified substitutes for several positions including secretaries, bus aides and paraprofessionals. Additionally, they approved multiple supplemental employees, classified and certified appointments.
A salary adjustment was approved for Emmalee Williams, who has completed her master's degree and will receive a salary of $49,002.53 annually, effective Aug. 31.
The board members also approved multiple administrative contract renewals and an administrative contract.
Additional approvals include the choir's field trip to Kalahari in November, the handbooks, and the transportation routes for the 2026-2027 school year.
For finance the board members approved the treasurer's report as presented to them, the Red Tree Annual Commercial Paper Reporting requirement as presented and the five-year forecast.
The minutes from the July 25 meeting were approved. There was no one who wanted to speak during the public portion and no correspondence, old business or new business.
The East Liverpool City Schools Board of Education meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Westgate Administration Building. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 24 and could include an executive session.
