LISBON -- The Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities Wednesday voted in favor of spending an additional $10,0000 to fix the roof on EDI South.
The work is to be done by Hissom Roofing and Construction.
The board had previously approved the roof repair at a cost of $49,000.
CCBDD Superintendent Bill Devon said repairs to the main roof of the building had been previously approved, but that there is an additional roof on the back of the building and some awnings that needed repaired and that's what the additional funding is for.
The new roof will have a 10-year warranty.
Board members approved of sending a board member as a delegate along with Devon to the Ohio Association of County Boards (OACB) Conference which will be held in Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 11-13. Devon noted that he normally goes, but they are allowed to send more than one delegate and wanted to open it up to any board members interested in going.
The board members also approved payment of the annual dues of $7,310 to the Family Children First Council of which they are a mandated member and the renewal of the CCBDD's annual membership in the OACB at a fee of $28,960, which is the same as last year's rate.
Board members approved the minutes of the Aug. 19 meeting, the financial report and payment of bills as presented, and the new computer policy and procedures as presented.
Devon said that that with October being Inclusive Employment Month there would be a variety of activities happening.
The Northeast Ohio Branch of the ARC will hold the 15th Annual Family Advocacy Conference on Sept. 25 at Avion on the Lake, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield, and any board members interested in attending need to let Devon know.
The board received a plaque recognizing their sponsorship of the All in Livestock Show at the Columbiana County Fair.
Marci Higgins, who was approved for hire by the board to fill the new position of Communications, Compliance and Information Manager during the June 17 CCBDD meeting, gave a brief update on her plans to modernize the CCBDD Policy Manual.
The Columbiana Board of Developmental Disabilities meets the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. at the CCBDD Administration Building, 7675 state Route 45, Lisbon. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21.
