WELLSVILLE -- The Buckeye Water District board recently received an update on its annual risk management insurance.
A representative from Whitacker Myers Insurance Agency addressed the board regarding the BWD risk management yearly renewal which is scheduled to renew on Oct. 1.
Board members were advised that all their properties saw an approximate 3% increase, which totaled a more than $1 million increase in value from last year for inflationary purposes. The inland Marine property increased in value by approximately $64,000.
The renewal premium for this year is $69,866 minus a $2,740 advantage credit, for a total premium of $67,126, which is an increase of $2,565 from last year.
The board will review the policy and make a decision.
In his report, District Manager Al DeAngelis said Arcadis has been surveying the district on possible areas for lead lines, and the Beaver Creek State Park waterline plans have been submitted to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for finalization for their permitting process to extend the waterline to Beaver Creek State Park.
DeAngelis also said that the 750,000-gallon tank refurbishment is complete, and the tank is back in service. The BWD's new I hydrants have been installed and are working properly, and BWD is gathering data from the areas that the hydrants are monitoring.
The BWD distribution crew fixed two leaks, completed two taps, had no line repairs and did three hydrant installs in August.
The Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees meets the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 15.
