CAA’s annual Back-To-School event to be held in East Liverpool again this year

EAST LIVERPOOL - It may be early, but plans have been in works for CAA's Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers' annual Back-to-School Drive-Through event for several months.
Once again CAA is hosting this event in East Liverpool, with free cinch sacks with school supplies in the offering to any parent and child who can stop by the First Church of the Nazarene, 670 Walnut St., East Liverpool, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6.
A very sweet addition to this year's event is the Kona Ice Truck of Northwest Pennsylvania. CAA is offering a free Kona Ice snow cone to anyone who would like one during this event.
The Drive-Through once again will take place during National Health Center Week, which is Aug. 2-8. "National Health Center Week, held each August, allows us to offer events for our patients, the community and our employees," said Jenna Wonner, CAA's COO. "It is a chance for us to bring awareness of our seven health, behavioral health and dental centers in Columbiana County, as well as our pharmacies."
This year's theme is "Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most."
"We have been offering this great event for seven years now, and it's a chance to help area parents get school supplies for their children," said Jody Wisbith, Marketing Specialist. "We are offering convenience for busy parents because all they have to do is drive through with their children and we'll put the cinch sack with school supplies in their vehicles," she added. "It also makes it easy for parents to come after work with the 5 p.m. start time."
But for those who want to walk to the downtown East Liverpool event, tables will be set up for parents and children to get school supplies.
"We're extremely happy to provide some free school supplies and help parents and children get off to a good start for the school year," Wonner said.
There are a limited number of drawstring bags available, so bags will be given out on first-come, first-served basis, it was noted.
The CAA Mobile Unit also will be stationed in the church parking lot during this event, and will be open for tours to all.
Other CAA agencies will participate in handing out back-to-school items, including CAA's Head Start. CAA's Community Services and Administration offices are taking part by donating back-to-school items to be given away.
National Health Center Week is the creation of the National Association of Community Health Centers, and the week has been celebrated for more than 30 years.
The CAA Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers also will celebrate its patients and employees during National Health Center Week with a Patient Appreciation Day on Aug. 5 and an Employee Appreciation Day.
