Beaver Local classes underway after Back to School Bash

LISBON -- Classes are underway this week at the Beaver Local School District following a successful Back to School Bash.

The event included iPad distribution and opportunities for students and families to visit their buildings and classrooms.

District Superintendent Eric Lowe said during this month's board of education meeting that the event has become an important tradition for the district and is consistently extremely well attended.

"We are excited to welcome our families back," Lowe said. "The Back-to-School Bash is always a great opportunity for our school community to come together before the start of another school year."

Lowe also said during the meeting he is pleased with the work put in over the summer by the maintenance and custodial staff.

Among the projects completed this summer was the refinishing of the high school gymnasium floor, which has received numerous positive comments, he said.

"We've accomplished a lot this summer, but there is always more to do," Lowe said. "I really appreciate Mr. Steiner and his team and the work our custodial and maintenance staff have put in to make sure our buildings and grounds are ready for our students and staff. They have done a tremendous job."

Other things completed over the summer were concrete work around parking lot drains and improvements to entryways in crosswalk areas.

Board President John Campbell also expressed his appreciation to the custodial and maintenance teams for their work preparing the buildings and grounds for the upcoming school year.

He went on to recognize the teachers and staff members who supported the Summer Success program that helped students improve their academic performance.

Campbell said he was pleased to see the return of the Back-to-School Bash and expressed his support for "The Power of One" as the district's theme for the 2026-27 school year.

Lowe said the district's focus for this year remains centered on creating a positive environment where students can learn, grow and reach their potential.

"We have a lot to be proud of, but our work never stops. Our goal is to continue building a school community where students feel supported, challenged and valued. If each of us focuses on the difference we can make, the ripple effect can be felt throughout the district," he said.
