WELLSVILLE -- The village has received funding for renovations at the marina.
Fiscal Officer Hoi Wah Yu reported to council Tuesday the village has been awarded $25,000 from the Charles M. Pugliese and Thelma M. Pugliese Charitable Foundation. She noted that the grant could also possibly be used toward matching funds for CDBG Plus dollars.
Wah said she applied for the grant in March.
Council unanimously adopted a resolution authorizing the village to accept the grant.
In other business, Mayor Bob Boley noted people have been asking about the fountains on Broadway Street, and said he believes it is a project the village can handle. He said they have looked into it and asked Wah about the finances in regard to fixing them.
He noted that the fountains at one time were beautiful, and it would be nice to have the fountains working with lights and water.
Council Member Aaron Smith said that Eddie Murphy, chairperson for the Wellsville Foundation, is working on writing a grant for one of the fountains on Main and 17th Street.
Also at the meeting, Boley said that longtime village employee Craig Weekley passed away from cancer.
Fire Chief Barry Podwel and Zoning Officer Rick Williams had no reports to give for this meeting.
The Wellsville Village Council meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall, 1200 Main St. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 3.
