WELLSVILLE — Kiducation Youth Center recently welcomed Columbiana County Municipal Court Judge Timothy McNicol as a special guest speaker.

McNicol shared what it means to be a judge, what a judge’s responsibilities are, and how he became a judge. He also talked about the importance of making good decisions now and explained, in an age-appropriate way, how poor choices can sometimes lead to a person ending up in court.

One of the highlights of the visit was when McNicol invited children to come to the front and pretend to be “defendants” in a courtroom. They had the opportunity to plead guilty or not guilty, giving everyone a fun, interactive glimpse into how a courtroom works.

The children were engaged and asked some important questions. It was a learning experience that taught them about responsibility, respect, honesty and the importance of making positive choices every day.
