LISBON -- The Beaver Local School District annual Golf Outing is quickly approaching and the district is also preparing for the next school year with the Back to School Bash.
The 17th annual Golf Outing is scheduled for Aug. 1 at Turkana Golf course in East Liverpool.
The outing is sponsored by the Red, White and Athletic Association, Inc. and raises funds for the district's student athletes programs.
The Back to School Bash is scheduled for Aug. 17 and is currently still in the planing stages.
The bash is held at the school campus and features many family-friendly activities.
In other matters, the district is also preparing for the upcoming school year through the completion of several maintenance and operational updates, District Superintendent Eric Lowe said during the month's board of education meeting.
He said the district's custodial and maintenance departments have been working diligently throughout the summer to prepare facilities and grounds for the opening of the 2026-27 school year.
"Their efforts have included extensive building preparation, preventive maintenance projects, athletic field improvements, and numerous facility upgrades designed to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff," he said.
Some of the summer maintenance projects included reupholstery of weight room benches behind the gymnasium, and continued reupholstery of chairs, booths, and storage benches, with stools scheduled as the next phase of the project, Lowe said.
He also said that refinishing of the high school gym floor began on July 6 and that the district is preparing for parking lot maintenance and resurfacing.
Lowe thanked the board for their commitment to the preventive maintenance items and said he feels it has assisted greatly in ensuring the building continues to look great entering its 12th year.
He also provided several operational updates as preparations continue for the start of the school year.
He said many staffing vacancies have been successfully filled and the new school busses have been delivered.
The district is still looking to fill one LPN position, he added.
Lowe also wished to remind families to update their final forms and be knowledgeable of the immunization requirements for kindergarten, 7th and 12th grade students.
