St. Clair Township trustees approve officer’s resignation
CALCUTTA — The St. Clair Township trustees Monday approved the resignation of a police officer.
Trustees accepted the resignation of patrol officer Matthew Greenlief effective June 23.
Greenlief joined the St. Clair Township Police Department in July 2025.
Chief Brian McKenzie said that Greenlief accepted another position and that he is a good officer.
After the resignation was approved, trustee Robert Swickard requested an executive session to be held near the end of the meeting with the police chief and fiscal officer for personnel reasons to discuss employment for the police department.
Fiscal Officer Deborah Dawson announced that her part-time assistant Diana Bikar would be retiring after being in the position for years. Her last day will be July 10.
Dawson also said she had conducted interviews for the part-time assistant to the fiscal officer and has decided on Megan Ryan, who will start on July 12. Ryan will be paid $22 an hour, and the part-time position is not to exceed 24 hours a week.
Herman Potts, administrator for the police department, provided the trustees with the updated cyber security policy required by the State of Ohio and said any employee who has a township email would have to be familiar with the policy, and trainings would be available for it. The trustees unanimously approved the cybersecurity policy/implementation program.
Road Foreman Dave Smith said he needed approval for an additional $19,028.25 for more cold patch scratch protector for the chip and seal preparation work being done on Berkshire and Cricket Lane, for which approval was given. Smith noted the work should be done on Tuesday, and the two roads are looking good.
There were no reports from the Calcutta or Glenmoor volunteer fire departments.
The trustees approved a resolution to exclude the City of Salem for an alternative method of apportionment of local government funds monies to be distributed in 2027.
Also approved were the minutes from the May 18 meeting and payment of bills totaling $178,074.49, purchase orders totaling $1,296.54 and super blanket certificates totaling $4,650.
After approval of the bills the trustees voted to go into the executive session. They returned to an open meeting and adjourned with no action taken.
Township offices will be closed on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth and July 3 in observance of the 4th of July.
The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees meets every other Monday at 4 p.m. at the St. Clair Township Government Building, 15442 Pugh Road. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 29.
