St. Clair Township trustees adopt 2027 tax budget
CALCUTTA — The St. Clair Township trustees Monday approved the 2027 tax budget, accepting the amounts and rates determined by the budget commission.
The amounts approved inside the 10-mill limitation for each fund are Road and Bridge, $244,700; Fire, $495,500; and Police, $1,576,200 for a total of $2,071,700.
The trustees also approved a request from Ferguson Contracting to work in a township right-of-way at 16421 Lyle St. for the installation of a new sewer line, with work expecting to take two days.
A transient vendor license was approved for 90 days for Brandon Groves with Trinity Solar.
Fiscal Officer Deborah Dawson was given the approval to accept $691.67 from the Opioid Public Trust.
Per recommendation of the Columbiana County commissioners clerk and prosecutor, the trustees rescinded the resolution adopted at their May 18 meeting to vacate land due to the resolution not being needed.
The minutes of the May 18 meeting, a purchase order for $27,465.17, blanket certificates totaling $29,500.19 and payment of bills totaling $118,163.18 were approved.
Dawson said that the bank reconciliation for April was complete and aligned with the bank.
Road Foreman Dave Smith said that chip and seal will begin on July 22, and the road department was working on patching and trimming in preparation for the project.
There were no reports from the police or fire departments.
The St. Clair Travel and Tourism Board will meet on June 12 at 7 p.m. in the community room at the township government building.
The township offices will be closed on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees meets every other Monday at 4 p.m. at the St. Clair Township Government Building, 15442 Pugh Road. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 15.
