East Liverpool schools superintendent shares district highlights with board
EAST LIVERPOOL – Schools Superintendent Jonathan Ludwig shared the district’s highlights with school board members Thursday.
Ludwig told the board members students are being provided with continued academic support and enrichment opportunities with summer school through Credit Recovery and the Brainery summer enrichment program.
Ludwig congratulated students Hunter Estell, Brady Dawson and Deonte Slappy for earning national recognition at the Junior Achievement National Student Leadership Summit held at Boston University. He also thanked advisor Robert Nizer for the leadership and mentorship provided to the students.
He noted that students Andrew Dalton, Hunter Estell and Miles Reynolds had the opportunity to develop leadership and civic skills when they proudly represented East Liverpool High School at Ohio Boys State.
He also congratulated student Maddox Roach, who was named the Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association Columbiana County Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Maddox competed at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
Ludwig noted that more than 1,000 East Liverpool families have enrolled in the summer meal delivery program and will be able to enjoy healthy breakfasts and lunches through the summer, with eligible students receiving the monthly meal deliveries.
East Liverpool City Schools received a $55,000 grant to replace half of the district’s floor scrubbing fleet to provide continued maintenance at all the district facilities.
Ludwig also shared with the board members that 136 alumni from the classes of 1943 through 1965 attended the 32ndAnnual Olde Guard Luncheon recently held at East Liverpool High School. The event used student volunteers to assist with valet parking and serving lunch which helped continue a longtime Potter tradition.
“These accomplishments reflect East Liverpool City Schools’ continued commitment to student achievement, strong leadership, responsible stewardship, community engagement and excellence in education,” Ludwig said.
