East Liverpool school board approves contract renewals for 2026-2027

EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool school board recently approved the certified contract renewals for staff members.

During its May 28 meeting, the school board approved one- and two-year and continuing contracts for more than 60 staff members.

Board members also approved multiple classified substitutes for the 2025-2026 school year, supplemental employees for the 2026-2027 school year, certified summer school appointments for 2026, administrative contract renewals for the 2026-2027 school year and classified appointments for the 2025-2026 school year.

Certified employee extended time was approved for 10 days for four staff members and for five days for four staff members.

Salary adjustments were approved for Audree Grimes for completion of her master’s degree for a salary of $66,189.22 and Randi Short for completion of a master’s degree for a salary of $70,485.89, both to be effective the first day of the 2026-2027 school year.

Resignations were accepted and approved for Kathryn Brown, intervention specialist, effective May 1; Darla Little, science teacher, for retirement purposes, effective June 5; Philip Korchnak, crossing guard, effective May 8; Jennifer Galanis, intervention specialist, effective July 3; Jenna Cope, principal, North Elementary, effective June 12; and Breaca Pugliana, teacher, effective June 5.

Board members also approved payment of stipends for professional development; the reduction of one self-contained special education unit at Westgate and the addition of one at the junior high based on student programming and service delivery needs; the reduction of one preschool teacher position at Westgate based on programming, enrollment and staffing needs; the reduction of one paraprofessional position at Westgate serving in a self-contained unit along with the reduction of one paraprofessional position at the junior high and the high school; the addition of one paraprofessional position at the preschool, one floating paraprofessional position for grades seven through 12 and the addition of 1-1 floating paraprofessional position for the self-contained special education unit at the junior high.

Board members additionally approved the adoption of the updated version of the OSBA Policy BF Board Policy Development, the resolution adopting a cyber-security program and NIST Cybersecurity Framework v2.0 as required by the State of Ohio and authorization for the superintendent to take all necessary actions to ensure district compliance.

For finance, board members approved the financial report, including cash summary, cash reconciliation and receipt and expense report for April as it was presented to them.

Additionally, per the treasurer’s request, board members approved a memorandum of understanding with Psycare to provide services to the district at zero cost, the contract with ACCESS for voice services, the contract with K12 for business consulting services, proposals with Alcon Mechanical and Protech Electric for kitchen upgrades at Westgate Middle School, the renewal of the contract with Strategic Solutions, the participation in the Summer Food Box Program at no cost, the establishment of an account for LaCroft Special Education and the FY27 Agreement with Columbiana County Educational Service Center.

The East Liverpool Board of Education meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the administration office. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 25.
