Buckeye Water District shares audit results

WELLSVILLE – The results for the Buckeye Water District (BWD) 2022-2023 audit were shared during Thursday’s trustees meeting.

Tiffany Chetock, BWD fiscal officer, shared that following the exit conference with the Ohio State Auditor’s office on May 21, the audit results revealed no citations, no findings for recovery, no deficiencies in internal controls, no material weaknesses and no instances of noncompliance with laws, regulations, contracts and grant agreements.

Chetock noted that during the exit interview, the auditor of state’s office said the BWD had achieved the highest rating the Ohio State Auditor’s Office can give.

In his report, District Manager Al DeAngelis told the board members the district met with Arcadis to discuss the lead line service replacement project and that Arcadis will be correlating with the district on different sites to locate areas in Wellsville and Salineville with lead services.

He noted that the engineering for the Beaver Creek State Park waterline project is about 75% complete and once completed the BWD will submit it to Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) for a permit to install.

The BWD will be taking the 750,000-gallon tank out of service sometime within the next two weeks. It will remain out of service for approximately eight weeks for repairs to be completed.

After reviewing bids for the Hibbitts Mills waterline project, it was determined that Marucci and Gaffney were the lowest bidder at $1,786,635.50.

DeAngelis said the BWD Distribution Crew fixed leaks and completed two service line repairs in May.

The Board approved the district manager report, the treasurer report, the operation reports and the minutes from the May 21 regular meeting and the June 3 special meeting as presented to them.

The trustees unanimously approved a resolution to adopt a cybersecurity program as required by the State of Ohio.

There was no one for public comment, and no bid openings, project reports, old or new business.

The Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees meets the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall, 1200 Main St. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 16.

Starting at $3.75/week.
