Wellsville Fire Department hires new firefighter

WELLSVILLE — Firefighter Bruce Minamyer is the newest member of the Wellsville Fire Department.

Mayor Bob Boley conducted the swearing in ceremony Wednesday morning. Village council had already approved Minamyer’s hire Tuesday night.

Minamyer is a veteran firefighter with 19 years of experience. In addition to his new position at with Wellsville, he also works part time for the Sharon Fire Department and is a captain with the East Palestine Fire Department. He will split his time between the departments.

Minamyer said he made the decision to join the Wellsville Fire Department after hearing from chief Barry Podwel and Wellsville Fire Department Firefighter Cody Cole that the department had an opening and just decided to join.

Minamyer was hired to fill the vacancy created with the resignation of Will Allison.
