Liverpool Twp. trustees receive correct price for rental of road sweeping equipment

LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Trustees now have correct prices for equipment rental for road sweeping.

Road Supervisor Chris Bosworth this week provided trustees with a correction to the cost of renting a pick-up broom to sweep the roads. The cost is $56 daily, $172 weekly and $456 for a month.

The township would need to provide a week’s notice to get it, he said.

At the previous meeting, Bosworth had provided a rate of $151 weekly and $937 monthly. Trustees had him check on the cost after Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati noted the numbers didn’t add up and authorized him to rent the equipment if the cost was between $600 to $700 per month.

Trustee Dennis Giambroni said he was good to go since it was approved at the last meeting for up to $700.

Bosworth said the 2008 F150 needed a bearing and a tensioner replaced.

Bosworth suggested the trustees maybe hire the same tree service company that trimmed the trees on Armstrong Lane to trim the ones on Boring Lane to allow more sunlight to come into the area during the winter because the thickness of the trees leaves that road kind of dark

He also said the road department has completed all the ditching and berming for the chip and seal for this year and now they are moving on to trimming the trees they can reach from the back of the trucks before moving on to asphalting. Then they can work on getting the grass cut.

In her report, Flati said she was working on the April bank reconciliation and that the 2024-2025 audit has been completed and published.

Trustee Mike Bahen congratulated Flati on having a perfect audit. Giambroni added to that, saying that was almost unheard of.

Police Chief Jared Kinemond was not present but told Trustee Keith Burke ahead of time he had nothing to report.

Bahen said that the trustees have been getting a lot of complaints on a house on Elson Street and after making some phone calls found the house is under contract to be taken care of. The owner of the property received money from the insurance company but failed to clean it up, so Bahen contacted the Ohio Insurance Company to file a complaint with them because insurance companies are required to send insurance money to the township for escrow to ensure damaged properties are cleaned up.

Giambroni said zoning inspector Fred Flati red tagged a house due to the grass being over 2 feet high.

Giambroni said he talked to a company out of Cincinnati that does free cybersecurity training, and he will be following up on that so the township is in compliance with state requirements.

The trustees approved two resolutions for adjusting appropriations to the Property Insurance Premiums line items for both the General Fund in the amount of $1,145.36 and the Road and Bridge Fund for $13,864.32.

They also adopted a resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.

Bills totaling $103,495.90 were approved for payments and the minutes from the April 28 meeting were approved.

The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration building, 2485 Boring Lane, East Liverpool. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 26.

Starting at $2.99/week.
