Liverpool Township trustees switch road department back to normal hours
LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Trustees have decided not to move the road department crew to summer hours.
Following a lengthy executive session during Tuesday’s meeting of the Liverpool Township Board of Trustees, which included the three trustees, fiscal officer and Road Department Superintendent Chris Bosworth, the trustees voted to reverse their decision made during the March 31 meeting to let the road department Crew go to summer hours.
Summer hours would have had the crew members working four 10 hours shifts instead of five eight-hour ones.
The trustees voted to return the road department back to the normal hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
When asked why the change back after two weeks, Trustee Dennis Giambroni said the decision was based off an employee resigning and providing better coverage for the township.
In other business, Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati told the trustees she had received correspondence from the Auditor of State concerning the new federal accessibility standard for state and local government website saying that local governments should consult their legal counsel for advice on complying with the new federal ADA standards.
Giambroni said he had been receiving phone calls from multiple IT companies regarding being compliant with the state’s regulations.
Giambroni also noted that the township would have to make the switch back to using two-factor identification for log ins.
Flati said that she was working on the March bank reconciliation.
Fire Chief Jacob Russell said Trustee Mike Bahen signed off on the agreement with the state to obtain the funds for the forestry grant, a representative from Phoenix Fire Equipment was in on Monday and fitted nine firefighters for personal protection equipment and the new MARCS radios have been programmed and distributed between stations seven and eight.
Russell also said he contacted a company in Youngstown for pump testing and oil changes on both tankers, and he is waiting to hear back on a date to have them done.
The software program the fire department was going to switch to at a cost of $1,700 does not work for fire department, so they switched backed to the original program which saves the township the yearly expense of the new software.
The fire department had a school bus donated to them which will be used for auto extraction training.
Chief Jarrod Kinemond said the new police cruiser was picked up on Tuesday and Halls will be in on Wednesday to equip it and that it should take about two days, then on Monday it will go to Campbells to get lettered, and it should be on the road probably next Tuesday.
The police department will hold a departmental meeting next week and there will be someone in to help them with grant writing.
Kinemond also said the department needs to get rid of one of their F150 vehicles down the road, and he wants to start discussing what they want for it and how they are going to get rid of it.
Bosworth said they road department continues to work on prepping the roads for chip and seal, and he needs to purchase a couple loads of 617 at $565 at load with 22 tons in each load to help repair bad spots in the road.
The road department’s 2008 F150 needs looked at for a miss in the engine. The trustees approved the truck being sent in to be looked so Bosworth can get an estimate for repair.
Giambroni said he called a couple of truck companies to get an estimate on what to sale the road department’s 2008 truck and was told it would be worth between $32,000 and $37,0000.
The trustees approved the sale of the truck to Madison Township if they are interested in it for $30,000.
The trustees also approved weed spraying at $2,365.80 and the ODOT 2026 salt contract.
The trustees adopted a resolution to supplement appropriations in the amount of $65,000 for the Police District Fund for Motor Vehicle Line item and the payment of bills totaling $98,081.06.
The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration building at 2485 Boring Lane, East Liverpool. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 28.
