Dave Johnson elected as Ohio’s new Republican National Committeeman
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee has elected Dave Johnson, longtime Chairman of the Columbiana County Republican Party, as Ohio’s new Republican National Committeeman.
Johnson succeeds Jim Dicke, who announced his resignation earlier this year after serving in the role since 2015. The State Central Committee convened to fill the vacancy, selecting Johnson to represent Ohio before the Republican National Committee.
A Salem resident, Johnson is the CEO of Summitville Tiles, an Ohio-based producer of quarry tile, industrial floor brick, pavers, thin brick, ceramic roof tiles, and other specialty products. Johnson represents a region of the state that has shifted heavily Republican in recent years and has been a driving force in building the party’s grassroots infrastructure in eastern Ohio.
“It’s an honor to be chosen by my fellow committee members to represent Ohio on the national stage,” Johnson said. “I want to thank Jim Dicke for his years of service, and I’m ready to get to work ensuring Ohio continues to have a strong voice within the Republican National Committee.”
As National Committeeman, Johnson joins Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou and National Committeewoman Senator Jane Timken as Ohio’s three representatives on the RNC. Together, they will represent the state’s interests as Ohio heads into the 2026 midterm elections and the national party prepares for the 2028 presidential cycle.
“Dave Johnson has been one of the most dedicated county chairmen in Ohio for years. He knows what it takes to build a winning party from the ground up, and he’ll bring that same energy to the Republican National Committee. Ohio is in great hands,” Triantafilou said.
The Republican National Committee oversees fundraising, strategy coordination, and the presidential nominating process — including setting the order of state primaries, shaping debate rules, and selecting the site of the Republican National Convention.
“I look forward to working alongside Dave Johnson on the Republican National Committee,” Timken said. “Dave knows Ohio, especially the Mahoning Valley. He was successful in championing the forgotten men and women and bringing them to the Republican Party. Together, we’ll make sure Ohio’s priorities are front and center nationally.”
