Commissioners authorize removal of pavilion in Columbiana

LISBON — The Columbiana County commissioners agreed recently to authorize the city of Columbiana to remove a crumbling pavilion from a county-owned roadside rest on Old state Route 14 near Madison Drive in Columbiana.

“They’re going to tear it down,” Commissioner Roy Paparodis said.

Commissioners signed a release and hold harmless agreement with the city of Columbiana for both sides to hold each other harmless from any damage or any liability related to the tearing down of the pavilion, which is in disrepair.

The city was willing to remove the pavilion using its own equipment and personnel.

In other business, commissioners approved the decrease of a unit rate for a contract with Catholic Charities for the county Department of Job and Family Services for the domestic violence shelter, reducing the unit rate from $25.95 per hour to $24.28 per hour. The board also approved a DJFS agency cleaning services contract with Patton Building Services from May 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027 with a spending ceiling of $53,925.

Permission to hunt on county-owned County Home Road, Lisbon property was granted to Raymond and Margaret McLain.

The next meeting of county commissioners will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at the downtown courthouse.

Starting at $2.99/week.
