Lisbon PD chief issues release on suspension

LISBON — A suspended Lisbon police officer was reportedly having conversations with a juvenile female he contacted through social media according to a news release that described those conversations allegedly as “sexual in nature.”

Lisbon Police Chief Mike Abraham gave more detail Wednesday about the reason behind the recent suspension of Patrolman Shawn Reynolds, 34, whose last known address was Lisbon, issuing the news release and announcing he has turned the investigation over to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force “to determine if criminal charges will be filed.”

The news release said that on Dec. 28, an officer from the Lisbon Police Department was contacted by an adult female “stating that Officer Shawn Reynolds was having conversations with a juvenile female after he friend-requested her on Snap Chat. Officer Reynolds was working at the time of the incident and the conversations were sexual in nature.”

Abraham then wrote in the news release that he met with Officer Shawn Reynolds on Dec. 29 “and suspended him for Gross Inefficiency, Gross Incompetency, Immoral Conduct, Neglect of Duty, and Conduct Unbecoming an Officer, while the administrative investigation was being conducted.”

When Abraham was contacted about the suspension on Dec. 30, he said at that time that Shawn Reynolds was suspended with pay. He joined the department as a full-time patrolman in September 2024 and previously worked at the Perry Township Police Department as a full-time officer.

He is not related in any way whatsoever to Lisbon Police Lt. Jordan Reynolds.

Abraham said he had no further comment other than what was written in the news release. Previously, he said the department must go through the administrative process.

“I would like to thank the supervisors for bringing this to my attention as quick as they did and for the way they conducted this investigation,” he said in the news release.
