Inmate back in custody after leaving hospital
LISBON — An inmate facing numerous counts, including possession of a deadly weapon, vandalism and criminal damaging for incidents at the Columbiana County jail last year is back in custody after ditching his ankle monitor at East Liverpool City Hospital early Thursday and leaving.
Bradley Cianni, 39, last known address Riverside Avenue, Wellsville, had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment on Tuesday from the jail, with an electronic tracking device placed on him. A county sheriff’s office report said he was admitted and told if he left the hospital grounds, he would be charged with escape.
At 2:25 a.m. Thursday, East Liverpool City Hospital notified the sheriff’s office that Cianni removed the electronic tracking monitor and left the hospital in a wheelchair with an IV and a gown, according to the sheriff’s report.
Sheriff’s Office Captain Ryan Pike confirmed Thursday that Cianni was already back in the jail later that day. The report didn’t explain the circumstances surrounding Cianni’s return or how he was caught.
He had been in jail after being arrested on a bench warrant on Dec. 27, 2025 after failing to appear in court.
Cases pending against Cianni include one for possession of a deadly weapon while under detention, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing a cane with a blade inside on April 23, 2025 while under detention. Another case involves a fifth-degree felony vandalism charge and two counts misdemeanor criminal damaging for allegedly damaging a sink and a mattress while he was an inmate at the county jail on July 16, 2025.
The other two cases involve drugs. He’s facing charges of fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and misdemeanors of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments for allegedly possessing methamphetamine, paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments such as syringes on Sept. 11, 2024. He was charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on Feb. 15, 2025.
