Six candidates vie for four seats on village council

Ryan Smith is one of six candidates wanting to add his voice, representing the village of Salineville.

Smith, who is seeking one of four seats on village council, is a lifelong area resident who will bring more than a decade of professional experience, community service and commitment to his hometown.

A Southern Local graduate, he has been employed as the elementary school music teacher for a dozen years.

He holds degrees from Ohio and Capital universities.

A Maple Hill resident, Smith also serves as secretary of the Salineville-Southern Local Alumni Association and president of the Southern Local Teachers’ Association as well as regularly attends village council meetings.

“I have no personal agenda,” he explains. “I just want to serve my community. I believe I am organized and efficient enough to maintain current operations, ambitious enough to move us forwards and am honest and transparent enough to build positive relations with residents.”

This would be his initial bid for public office.

Not returning questionaires for inclusion were incumbents Pam Tedeschi, John Higgins, Nancy Needham and John Vennum or challenger Teddy Mitchell.

No candidates filed for the village’s Board of Public Affairs’ openings.

Starting at $2.99/week.
