Annual Trunk-or-Treat
The East End Plaza joined by Meme’s Memorial will host the eighth Annual Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 19 from 3-5 p.m. Organizers are looking for businesses and families who want to set up and pass out candy for the event which is expected to draw approximately 600 children. They currently have approximately 30 participants. Contact Megan Beagle at 330-853-9456 if interested in participating or donating candy.
Stories with Mayor Bobby Smith
East Liverpool Mayor Bobby Smith will be entertaining children with spooky stories at the East Liverpool Carnegie Public Library, 219 E. 4th St., East Liverpool, Saturday at 11 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to enjoy listening as Smith reads Five Silly Ghosts, Pumpkin Magic, and When the Goblins came Knocking. There will be light refreshments afterwards and special prizes for the children to take home. Spooky Stories with the mayor is part of a story time program coordinated by Tamara Scafide, children’s coordinator, who will have a special person come in and read to children once a month. In November it will be stories with Police Chief John Lane. The program will take a break in December and resume in January. Homelessness in County
Homelessness in Columbiana County and possible solutions will be the topic of discussion at a meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 28 at the Upper Room Fellowship, 500 Sponseller Road, Columbiana. Sponsored by the Columbiana County Faith-Based Collaborative and the Columbiana Christian Ministerial Association, the gathering is intended to give participants a clearer understanding of myths and truths about homelessness and provide feasible services, resources and strategies to address it. Government and community leaders, church members from across the county, and other residents are invited to attend and participate in the discussions. The gathering is planned in advance of National Homelessness Outreach Awareness Month, which is in November. The Faith-Based Collaborative is an arm of the Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
