Volino to fill vacated Beaver Local BOE seat

LISBON — A new person has been selected to serve on the Beaver Local Board of Education.

During the Sept. 8 meeting of the board, the board approved applicant Louis Volino to serve the remainder of the term vacated by Jerry Barnett.

Barnett’s term ends Dec. 31 of this year. He resigned last month due to moving out of the district to be closer to family.

Volino was one of four total applicants seeking the open seat on the board.

Volino is board certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Medicine and currently holds several positions, including medical director, associate medical director, attending physician, hospice physician, and physician at facilities in East Liverpool, Hubbard, Boardman, North Lima and Niles.

Prior to that he served as night officer at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital and as hospitalist for Prima Health Care at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

He is an East Liverpool High School graduate and holds licensures in both Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Licd Support.

His volunteer service includes serving as River Valley Youth Baseball coach and Beaver Local Youth Basketball coach.

Volino stated on his resume that his objective is to support academics, innovation and safety in the district.

Volino will be administered the oath of office at the next regular board meeting in October.

Board President Greg Eisenhart wished to thank all the applicants for showing an interest in the board.

“The district was fortunate to have terrific applicants making it a difficult decision,” he said.
