POP-UP FOOD PANTRY

An inaugural pop-up food pantry held Wednesday afternoon at the Community Resource Center was deemed a success by center executive director Denise Taylor. She said the event was scheduled on the fly due to the public outcry over the weekend for people seeking pantry items for their families. One hour into Thursday’s People Helping People event, the center had exhausted the majority of its pantry goods, which included baked goods and bread, fresh foods and vegetables. The day was also a hot meal day, so more than 69 creamed chicken over rice meals with broccoli and cheese were also distributed.
