Williams guest speaker at Calcutta Lions Club

CALCUTTA — The Calcutta Lions Club met for its regular meeting Tuesday evening at the Peter Metrovich Community Center. Lion Kathy Barker led the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Fourteen Lions were in attendance.

The guest for the evening was Jordan Williams from the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center. He spoke on their programs for students as well as success stories.

Lion Sharon Hall handed out the minutes to the Aug. 23 meeting and they were accepted as submitted.

Lion Gary Freeh reported that 34 students were given free eye screenings during the Beaver Local Back-To-School bash. Two referrals were made. Lion Rosemary Bruehler stated volunteers are needed for Beaver Local in school eye screenings Sept. 2-4.

Hall stated we will be selling hot dogs during the Pioneer Days at Beaver Creek on Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hall thanked those who have sold Steeler raffle tickets. The drawing will be held Sept. 23. Winners receive two tickets to the Pittsburgh versus Cleveland game on Oct. 12 as well as $200 cash.

Lion Joe Hall gave the date of Sept. 19 for the Appreciation Picnic for St. Clair Township employees.

Lion Wayne Christen mentioned that bingo will be held Friday at Crossroads at 2 pm.

Christen made a motion to adjourn at 8:05 p.m.
