EAST LIVERPOOL — The officers of the East Liverpool Police Department participated in an active shooter training at East Liverpool High School on Aug. 20.
The training was conducted by Sgt. Jordan Reynolds, Lisbon Police Department, and Patrol Officer Preston Straney, Columbiana Police Department.
Chief John Lane said, “Sadly this is the world we live in today,” and he noted based on that officers need to be prepared for anything including the unimaginable.
He said he feels the training is beneficial for both his veteran officers and the new officers in the department. It’s a refresher for the veterans and for the new officers, it’s hands on training and also allows them to get the layout of the school building in case the unimaginable would happen and would help prepare all officers to better handle such a situation.
Lane expressed his thanks to Reynolds and Straney for providing the training and East Liverpool City Schools for use of the school.
